Reports to: Medical Assistant Manager

Location – Greenwich/Stamford

What you’ll do:

The Medical Assistant is responsible for rooming patients, documenting medical history / chief complaints, collecting vitals if necessary, communicating follow-up information with patient and provider, and otherwise generally assisting the provider within the MA scope of practice. 

Candidates must have exceptional customer service skills, a positive communication style and the ability to problem-solve effectively. Multi-tasking with a high degree of accuracy is essential to providing safe, high quality patient care. At least 1 to 2 years of experience working in an outpatient clinic setting is strongly preferred. National certification as registered medical assistant preferred. 

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Collects detailed and accurate patient history. 

  • Prepares and maintains exam rooms with necessary instruments, equipment and supplies. 

  • Follows up with patient on physicians current patient care notes or instructions. 

  • Provides general assistance, education and information to patient questions. 

  • Performs post-operative wound care, suture removal, dressing change, cast removal, cast application and splint application. 

  • Assists physicians in setup and performance of medical procedures under the direction of physician or nurse manager. 

  • Maintains DME supplies. 

  • Responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality. 

  • Prepares, cleans and stocks examination rooms. Assures surfaces are clear and puts away any articles that were left out and replenishes missing stock in drawers and cabinets. 

  • Unpacks new supply deliveries and stores away items as directed. 

  • Assists members of clinical support staff and physicians with all duties as necessary and appropriate. (includes patient care, post-op phone follow-up calls and other patient phone calls, medication updates) 

  • Documents all phone calls and actions appropriately in EMR. 

  • Identifies OSHA issues and communicates for correction. 

  • Follows all HIPAA regulations as instructed. 

  • Follows ONS policies and procedures. 

  • Performs other duties/projects as assigned. 

  • General knowledge of office procedures and computer systems. 

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills 

  • Ability to handle high stress, busy work environment. 

  • Knowledge of Word & Outlook Required. 

  • Orthopedic and/or casting experience preferred. 

  • Knowledge of GE Centricity a plus. 

  • Pleasant, professional, and articulate phone skills. 

  • Knowledge of medical terminology. 

  • Strong organizational skills 

  • Ability to work well under pressure 

  • Ability to work as part of a team 

  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred
