PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Works with school level personnel to provide opportunities for student physical activity before, during and after school.
• Collaborates with local health agencies and school nurses to provide activities to educate students in nutrition and diet.
• Assists school personnel in scheduling activities and identifying resources to discourage students from using alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
• Identifies resources to assist school personnel to educate students on health issues related to sexual activity (i.e. STDs, HIV / AIDS).
• Collaborates with local health agencies and school nurses to provide a variety of services to promote staff wellness.
• Collaborates with local health agencies and councils to plan educational opportunities for school communities.
• Provides in-service to school personnel on implementing components of the Coordinated School Health Program.
• Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the Coordinated School Health Program at each school.
• Collects assessment data for all objectives, as well as the School Annual Wellness Reports.
• Compiles and shares status of system and school wellness activities and results with the Board of Education, Director of Schools, Health Advisory Council, and School Health Coordinators by August of each school year.
• Coordinates annual completion of Youth Risk Behavior Survey and BMI assessments.
• Promptly provides accurate health and wellness reports requested by the Tennessee Department of Education.
• Implements the school health action plan developed annually by the Health Advisory Council.
• Performs other functions as recommended by the Health Advisory Council and / or directed by the director of schools.
• Coordinate with Homeland Security.
• Coordinate with Fire Marshall and school site inspections.
• Collaborate with Central Office Administration.
• Coordinate with Fire Marshall and school site inspections.
• Manage / Support RAVE alert system.
• Responsible for School Security Assessments.
• Responsible for School Safety Drills.
• Responsible for District Threat Assessment Team.
• Responsible for student drug screen process (Ballad Health).
• Responsible for annual safety related checklists (asbestos, training, etc.) from all schools.
• Assists and collaborates with other department heads and the finance director regarding assigned grants in Eplan.
• Review project purchase orders and invoices for accuracy and allocate expenditures according to the central office accounting system.
