SUMMARY
Assists students and other pedestrians safely cross roadways byproviding traffic control and direction using office approved traffic safetyequipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The most important and essential job function of the position isto have an attitude of service to others. Attitude is essential to maintain positive relationships withco-workers, respond professionally, calmly, and politely to members of thecommunity, work as a team member, function under pressure, and respond in aprofessional manner to supervision. Other duties are listed below.
·Provide assistance to the public
·Foster positive relationships with members of the community
·Provide traffic control on roadways and at intersections andvenues in a safe and efficient matter
·Maintain a presentable uniform in accordance with policy
·Other duties as directed by a supervisor
SUPERVISORYRESPONSONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisoryresponsibilities.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as Louisiana Laws, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and General Orders & Policyand Procedure Manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence as necessary.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Current and valid Louisiana driver's license.
Ability to stand on feet for extended periods oftime, to walk moderate distances, endure inclement weather, stay alert, bend,stoop, lift small or light objects, communicate with supervisors andco-workers, communicate with the public and school personnel, and adhere toAPSO policies and procedures
The nature of this important public safety position requires thatan employee maintain a high level of mental stability. The employee mustdemonstrate reasonable judgment in a variety of stressful and non-stressfulsituations.
The employee must maintain a positive attitude, positiveinterpersonal relationships, and be free from debilitating anger or hostility.There must be no evidence of problems with drugs, alcohol, or other addictivebehavior or the necessity for psychotropic medications that would affect theemployee's ability to perform the essential functions of this job.
Work conditions are often on or near roadways which pose regularhazards associated with flowingtraffic including moving vehicles, loud noises, road debris, vehicle exhaust,and other unpredictable conditions. Work is performed outside and may requireperformance in inclement weather conditions including wind, rain, extreme, orheat and cold.
