Summary:
The Credentialing Assistant reports to the Vice President, Medical Affairs & CMO and is responsible for assisting with coordinating, monitoring and maintenance of all credentialing related duties including initial credentialing and re-credentialing of providers. This position also oversees the on boarding process of incoming providers, and off boarding existing providers.
Responsibilities:
1.Provides assistance in development, plans, organization and control of the operation of the Medical Staff Office in order to meet the mission and goals of the hospital and the requirements of the Medical Staff Bylaws, JCAHO, NCQA Standards and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and/or accrediting agencies.
2.Upon direction for the Medical Staff Service Coordinator, the Credentialing Assistant is responsible for assisting with coordinating, monitoring and maintenance of all credentialing related duties including initial credentialing; re-credentialing; overseeing the on boarding process of incoming providers; and off boarding existing providers. Handles and resolves inquiries regarding credentialing information, processing and status updates.
3.Assists with processing all applications using credentialing software in addition to routine procedures. Assists with orientation, tours, and EPIC training registration for new physicians.
4.Responsible for the timely maintenance of DEA, Malpractice Insurance Certificates and Physician Acknowledgment Statements.
5.Assists with the reappointment process of the Medical Staff in accordance with established reappointment mechanism as stated in the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations.
6.Responsible for the timely querying and modem transmittals to the National Practitioner Data Bank. Assists with monitoring for compliance with JCAHO standards by maintaining and improving credentialing procedures.
7.Maintains multiple rosters online containing addresses, phone numbers, fax roster, privileges list. Etc.
8.Assists with agendas and minutes for Medical Staff Committees.
9.Responsible for the timeliness of posting hospital sponsored Medial Staff CME credits, meeting attendances and other credentialing data.
10.Other assigned duties and projects as requested.
