Police Officer Position at the Glendale Police Department

Must be Colorado POST certified, currently in a POST Academy or out-of-state applicants must obtain a provisional certification issued by the Colorado State Attorney General's office at time of appointment. Please contact POST for more information: https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/post/post-portal

Salaries start at $72,221 annually, with seven step levels topping out at $101,487. Lateral hires will move to a higher step level for each year of patrol experience up to 3 years (Level 3 pay is $81,977) upon completion of Field Training.

City of Glendale Benefits for sworn police officers

· 9% of officer’s annual salary paid into 401(a) by the City with 5-year vesting period. 7% employee required contribution to retirement in lieu of social security.

· Membership for employee and dependent family members to Glendale Sports Center.

· 13 paid holidays (2 credited upon hire)

· Paid vacation:

o 80 hours vacation annually for 1st 5 years

o 120 hours vacation annually after 15 years

o 160 hours vacation annually after 15 years

· Sick pay accrued at 96 hours annually

· Employee Assistance Program

· Death & disability plan benefits through FPPA

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED, must be at least 21 years of age. Outside experience will be evaluated to determine the extent of equivalency to the duties of a Glendale Police Officer.

Licensing/Certification Requirements

Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (CPOST) certificate required at the time of hire. (Provisional CPOST may be accepted if approved by CPOST and obtained by completion of in-house academy.)

Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.

Examinations include: Written exercise, physical fitness test, background investigation, oral board interview, social reception interview, Chief's interview, Leadership committee interview, polygraph, psychological examination, medical exam, and substance screening.

Automatic disqualifiers may include:

No hard drug use within 5 years.

Any felony convictions.

No driver’s license suspensions within 3 years.
