Sr. Technical Writer (Cyber Security) | Contract | Hybrid: Glendale, California

As the Cyber Security Technical Writer, your role is to support the Cybersecurity Engineering teams by ensuring information sharing across functions and stakeholders. Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and management to document technical information, processes, runbooks, and procedures. Work with internal and external teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of requirements in order to translate them into policies, procedures, standards and work instructions. In this vital position, you will produce high-quality documentation to drive overall organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

Your Day to Day:

  • Write and/or edit technical documents, including policies, Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions. Develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by security engineers, technical engineers, developers and management ensuring that final documents meet applicable operational requirements.
  • Provide expertise in the creation, implementation and maintenance of appropriate policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in the policy lifecycle by monitoring changes to the standards and regulatory landscape as it pertains to the organization.
  • Ensure that audit narratives are accurate and up to date which includes continuous partnerships with the various Studio stakeholders, service owners, and control owners on quarterly assessments of dataflows, architectural flows, and process narratives.
  • Design, develop, and implement technical documents, including user manuals, help documents, and tutorials.
  • Perform detailed technical writing and integrate cyber security solutions.
  • Compile information requirements, objectives, functions and features
  • Gathers technical information, prepare written text, and coordinate layout and manual organization
  • Interview engineers and/or other staff to obtain workflow, processes or other technical information
  • Integrate information from functions throughout the organization to facilitate access, sharing and disseminating information with team members, internal business partners and stakeholders
  • Manage the tracking, monitoring and document control of technical documents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 or more years of experience in the risk or cyber security field.
  • Experience with Confluence and with Wiki development.
  • 3 or more years of experience with the development and/or updating of cyber security related policies, processes, or standards.
  • Experience with principles and technology, including access/control, authorization, identification and authentication, public key infrastructure, network, and cloud security architecture.
  • Must have excellent technical writing skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, specifically ensuring consistency in documentation.
  • Ability to speak with and understand Engineers.
  • Experience delivering documentation to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data processing, hardware platforms, operating systems, databases and enterprise software applications.
  • Ability to establish credibility and working relationships with a wide range of corporate personnel.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with varied company stakeholders utilizing excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Project management experience is desired.
  • Experience with LucidChart, Google Workspace, Atlassian Confluence and JIRA is strongly desired.
