Willdan Energy Company has an opening for an Outside Energy Sales Representative for the Glendale Water & Power Program! The Energy Sales Representative (ESR) will work as part of an outside sales team selling Energy Efficiency programs to reduce costs and reduce energy usage to business customers.

Responsibilities include prospecting in the field for qualified customers, conducting onsite energy assessments, developing solutions for lighting, refrigeration, and HVAC by presenting proposals to customers and signing up new customers for the electrical utility energy savings program design.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-person cold calls and follow up on leads and proposals in assigned market area.
  • Provide information to customers on available utility incentives and program details.
  • Prepare and present proposals that recommend energy conservation measures, provide customer costs and incentives, and then sell the value proposition to the customer.
  • Maintain strong ongoing communications with customers to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Report accurately and describe activities in the field and monitor progress towards program goals.
  • Meet or exceed set proposal and sales objectives.
  • Responsible for maintaining and protecting all company equipment issued.
  • Conducts energy audits of non-residential buildings as required, which includes but is not limited to identifying existing lighting and refrigeration using equipment / measure.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of outside sales experience.
  • Experience with energy auditing or commercial lighting a plus.
  • Ability to learn and present energy efficient lighting and refrigeration concepts.
  • Outgoing personality and the ability to interact positively with people and provide excellent customer service.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work to schedules, performance goals and objectives.
  • Proven ability to conduct successful cold calls and generate leads.
  • Local working knowledge of assigned territory preferred.
  • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.
  • Proficiency with technology, including use of iPad or other mobile devices and MS Office applications.
  • The ESR must have the means of on-demand, flexible personal transport to facilitate daily travel to the assigned market area, visit different clients and business locations for cold calling and pre-arranged meetings throughout the workday.
  • Driver of personal transport must possess a valid driver's license applicable to state laws and maintain a clear driving record as required by the company, it's affiliates, and per any client contractual obligations.
