We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join our sales team in capacity of Large Commercial Lines Risk Advisor or Employee Benefits Risk Advisor. Both roles will contribute to growth by closing new business and retaining it year over year. You will bring industry expertise, and help us stay true to our values and standards to get better every day.
As a Risk Advisor in either the commercial lines or employee benefits space, you will be responsible to build and grow a portfolio of business, while offering best in class risk management advice to businesses. You must be capable of sourcing, prospecting, closing new business, renewal retention of existing business, and the ability to work effectively with all stakeholders.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for growing and retaining a profitable and well-rounded book quality business clients.
  • Achieve objectives and sales goals established in annual business plan.
  • Prospect for new business with key centers of influence and prospects to introduce to Smith Brothers and close business.
  • Strategize, educate, and counsel clients and prospects with a commitment to helping them mitigate risk and navigate through insurance product choices.
  • Collect detailed risk and underwriting information including survey data and loss history.
  • Develop and deliver formal proposals of insurance including details of coverages, limits, deductibles, services, etc.
  • Work effectively with service team and carrier marketing to complete company submissions and selection of potential markets.
  • Participate in renewals, when appropriate, by reviewing expiration listing with service team to determine appropriate action and collection of information to prepare renewal submissions
  • Conduct client and prospect appointments communicating proposals and renewals, explain details while communicating desire to conduct business.
  • Understand insurance contracts and have the ability to explain coverage offerings to clients.
  • Develop accounts and cross sell our Enterprise Risk Management capabilities.
  • Stay informed of claims or service issues and become involved in resolution when required.
  • Maintain sales reports and attend all sales meetings as required.
  • Promote agency and insurance industry in the community.
  • Work effectively with teammates and all applicable stakeholders to deliver on our be sure promise.
  • Work on projects and other work as assigned.
  • Remain current on industry trends and information, new product development, changing industry standards, legislation, coverages, technology ect. in order to stay relevant in the insurance marketplace.
  • Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned, for example, be an active member of target associations, develop Centers of Influence and PRABS who will introduce you to target accounts, ect.
  • Overserve your top 20% of accounts using Smith Brothers' proactive service platform.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and company information and adhere to all personal and financial data privacy protocols.
  • Follow department and company defined processes, procedures, and workflows, within specified timelines, to drive consistency and effciency, with a focus on client experience.
  • Review, update, and develop processes and workflows as assigned.
  • Participate in internal learning and development sessions.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with team to build trust and enhance team productivity and performance.
  • Desire and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, growth minded dynamic enviroment.
  • Desire and commitment to engage in ongoing training and learning and development.
  • Ability to adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities and projects as needed.
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated resilience and grit to overcome hurdles.
  • Team player who consistently defaults to good.
Qualifications
  • Three plus years' experience in commercial lines or employee benefits consultative sales approach preferred.
  • Appropriate Insurance License(s) required (Property & Casualty and/or Life & Health depending on role).
  • Professional designations preferred.
  • Proven ability to pursue and close sales.
  • A network of business contacts and the ability and desire to build an impactful client base to retain year after year.
  • Proven experience working in a team environment and establishing positive and productive working relationships.
  • Associate or bachelor degree preferred.
  • Experience with a CRM Database preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of client and company information and adhere to all personal and financial data privacy protocols.
General Working Conditions
  • Fast paced office environment with significant telephone and in person interactions.
  • Offsite client, network, and prospect meetings require non-standard normal working hours - expect evening events and some travel as normal course of business.
  • Ability to view computer monitors for extended periods of time.
