- This position starts August 7, 2024.**
Job FunctionsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Abides by Board policies and other state and federal regulations concerning students with disabilities.
- When appropriate, serves on multidisciplinary teams and serves as case facilitator when needed.
- Provides the guidance for the teachers and para-educators of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
- Serves as a consultant and provides in-service training to teachers, parents, and others concerned.
- Is responsible for the development of Individual Education Programs (IEP) for students with disabilities; implements the IEP; and uses diagnostic information obtained from tests and other assessment procedures to update IEPs as needed.
- Implement best practice and evidence based strategies that work effectively with students with Autism.
- Develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of behavior support plans by monitoring student behavior; maintaining discipline in the classroom; de-escalating inappropriate behaviors; and teaching appropriate behavioral strategies.
- Employs a variety of teaching methods to meet student needs. Implementation of these methods may require the adaptation or development of materials.
- Plan and implement academic instruction for students who exhibit communication, social and behavioral challenges using evidence based methods.
- Plan and implement non-academic instruction in areas such as social skills, toilet training, and community based instruction.
- Supervise and provide necessary training for Para-professionals.
- Participates in professional activities as part of the assignment.
- Ensures professional growth through, conferences, workshops, in-services and related professional readings.
- Performs any other duties assigned by supervisor(s).
Job QualificationsMust possess a Wyoming State Teaching Certificate in Special Education.
Must possess a valid Wyoming Driver’s License.
Knowledge, Skills, And Mental Ability
- Possess a broad general knowledge of all subject areas with specific knowledge needed in contract areas.
- Possess group dynamics and interpersonal skills.
- Possess knowledge of physiological, psychological, emotional, and educational behavioral development of children.
- Possess classroom developmentally appropriate management skills which include discipline as well as record keeping and assessment abilities.
- Possess technological and computer skills.
- Possess problem solving, imagination, patience, reasoning, creativity, judgment, and analytical abilities.
- Possess a general knowledge of Federal Special Education Law.
- Possess all certificates required for the State of Wyoming.
- Possess at a minimum a Bachelor's Degree.
- Continue to pursue graduate level classes for professional growth.
