This position is responsible for assuring that the day-to-day accounting processes and requirements are completed and followed. The selected Accounting Specialist will be responsible for general ledger reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, following established workflow, and procedures. The position interacts regularly with management, as well as other internal customer departments, to integrate solutions to meet operational and financial goals.

Essential Functions

• Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts.
• Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports, verifying information.
• Prepares expenses accruals; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements
• Prepare monthly account analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities in a timely manner.
• Record and post transactions, including intercompany transactions and cash application.
• Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files.
• Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports, verifying information.
• Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
• Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
• Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
• Ensure all accounting records, policies, and practices are compliant with federal, state and local government laws and regulations as well as various regulatory agencies, and Company policy.

Skills and Abilities

• Must exhibit excellent teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with others on a common task.
• Must be a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to take action, multi-task, and achieve results in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• Must possess exceptional computer skills, including knowledge of Excel, specifically with the use of complex formulas and functions, to include but not limited to VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
• Must be proficient in an enterprise-level accounting system. The preferred technology is Microsoft Dynamics/Great Plains. Experience with other financial ERP technologies such as Oracle Financials, or SAP Financials will be sufficient.
• Detail and deadline oriented

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in accounting from a 4-year accredited college is preferred. Candidates with an Associate Degree with an emphasis in accounting will be considered.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience within the areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and accrual-basis accounting.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
