Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Development Manager is a key member of the resource development team. This person is responsible for planning and implementing strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual and corporate donors to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier giving campaign. This position will oversee direct mail, email solicitations strategies, and manage a portfolio of donors and new prospects. This position will focus on strategically expanding the organization’s annual giving program with the goal of significantly increasing the base of the annual funds support of gifts up to $5,000. They will also plan, develop, and implement our annual corporate giving initiatives.

KEY ROLES:

  • Plan and execute steps for donors’ identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for gifts up to $5,000 from individual giving non designated gifts to the annual campaign.
  • Establish personal relationships with prospects who have affinity and capacity to contribute at the major gift level, identifying their interests and articulating programmatic aspects of Boys & Girls Clubs work that would appeal to them.
  • Design and manage a comprehensive direct mail program and online giving strategies and analyze direct mail/email solicitation program results-oriented data to refine and increase ROI (return on investment).
  • Design, implement and manage the annual corporate giving strategy.
  • Utilize donor database to identify lapsed donors, potential upgrades, and retention strategies.
  • Utilize available research, board member spheres of influence community networking and other sources to identify prospective new donors.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Development Director to establish benchmarks and regular reporting process to measure results of all annual fund activities.
  • Leverage individual donor relationships to expand and deepen giving from connected individuals.
  • Works effectively with the VP of Development to identify new donors and builds strategies for engaging and encouraging donors to give at higher levels.
  • Work as a member of Development team to review and revise Cultivation and Stewardship Plan as needed; manage cultivation, stewardship, and recognition activities for donors at defined levels within assigned areas.
  • Personally solicit a portfolio of prospects, emphasizing Milbank’s level annual gifts and multi-year pledges.
  • Plan and execute introductory or cultivation events for donors and prospects.
  • Participate directly in the solicitation of individual, corporate, foundation and government prospects.
  • Develop strong funding proposals with VP of Development, and program staff.
  • Attending local fundraising events, business meetings, and networking opportunities to establish and develop contacts in specified communities.
  • Track and manage the prospective donor pool to develop weekly update reports and monitor and evaluate program results.
  • Maintain strong records in the Boys & Girls Clubs database.
  • Collaborate stewardship activities related to annual funds and corporate donors.
  • Collaborates with the Special Events Coordinator in planning and executing cultivation events.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports and documents of accountability.
  • Work with team on any other duties/activities as assigned.
  • Design and implement strategic programs to engage corporate volunteers and alumni in becoming supporters of the annual giving campaign.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Knowledge of accessing, pulling reports and managing donor databases.
  2. Assume all other duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintain oral and written contact with the Chief Development Officer, peers, and volunteers for information exchange, to provide progress reports regarding activities and planned programs, and to coordinate events.

External: Maintain oral and written contact with other agencies, business leaders, community groups, committees, and the media to exchange information, ideas, and fundraising.

Qualifications


REQUIRMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years of fundraising experience and a proven history for securing large gifts.
  • Have demonstrated success in further developing and maintaining new fundraising programs and affinity groups.
  • Ability to collect and organize, and analyze data related to donor giving.
  • Must be a team player, a self-starter, and possess the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS /WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical requirements include physical exertion such as lifting, stretching, and bending, moving, and transporting marketing materials, setting up events, using vehicles to meet donors, and sitting for extended periods of time.
