The Opportunity…
Pull permits in various cities for projects
Assist installations of solar electric systems with crews of volunteers and/or job trainees
Assist installation supervisors in loading and unloading equipment
Participate in installation meetings
Compile project documentation for pre/post installation
Project commissioning
Help maintain and enforce a safe job site
Other job duties include hardware store runs, answering homeowner and volunteer questions, and generally participating in activities necessary to make solar happen for low-income families
Ensuring all QA/QC photos have been captured for our TPO partners and GRID
Ensure all salesforce data that is inputted is correct
Assist installations of battery storage systems
Perform service cases as needed
100% safety at all times
Perform inspections as needed
What you need to bring to this role...
Experience in solar/general construction skills
Excellent communication skills (Demonstrated ability to work with and communicate well with volunteers and clients)
Comfortable working as part of a team
Comfortable working at heights and in extreme conditions
Flexibility and willingness to embrace change, go the extra mile, and bring ideas and energy to rapidly growing organization
Willingness to work on evenings and weekends as needed
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Willingness to travel to sites throughout CA
It would be great if you also had...
Passion for sustainability, affordable housing, the environment, or environmental justice, or just generally grounded in making the world a better place
Experience in training and/or working with volunteers
PV system installation experience (commercial and residential)
NABCEP certification or willingness to acquire within 6 months
Construction heavy equipment experience (electric Forklift, skid steer, all terrain forklift, scissor lift, etc..)
General computer skills
Where you will sit and the places you may go…
This position may rarely require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as company-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required.
GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay commensurate with experience within the pay band ($16-$26 per hour), plus the benefits below.
