Blue Ridge Hospice is Hiring a VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR Near Frederick, VA

Position SummaryServes the community with hospice care and supportive services related to serious illness and loss with the highest level of skill, compassion and respect by managing volunteer resources. The Volunteer Services Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing the volunteer programs of Blue Ridge Hospice.
Essential Job Functions
  • Utilize intake and interview protocol for potential volunteers to ensure the best match between the skills, qualifications, and interests of the volunteers and the needs of the organization.
  • Assists with the facilitation of volunteer training/orientation programs.
  • Participates in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings to represent and report volunteer assignments.
  • Tracks volunteer hours for reporting.
  • Updates volunteer information for all volunteers.
  • Assists in preparations of volunteer updates, visitations reports and compliance issues.
  • Assists volunteers with the use of EMR and other documentation processes.
  • Assists with recruitment, retention, and assignment of volunteers.
  • Assists with planning and set up of volunteer activities and Hospice activities where volunteers are utilized.
  • Serves as backup to generating monthly and quarterly statistical reports as needed.
  • Assists with the monitoring and support of all volunteers with appropriate input from other members of the interdisciplinary team or assigned manager.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have a positive attitude, be self-motivated, show initiative and anticipate needs.
  • Ability to work independently, exercising a high degree of discretion and sound judgement.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop implement, and interpret programs, goals and objectives, policies and procedures, etc. that are necessary for providing quality volunteer experience and maintaining a sound operation.
  • Provides supervision of volunteers through review of documentation, observing communication/interaction with the IDT and any feedback received concerning a volunteer’s performance.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and effectively.
  • Generates and/or recognizes creative solutions in work related situations.
  • Serves as backup to Volunteer Services team members as needed.
  • Model highest standards of conduct and ethical behavior adopting strong position for corporate compliance.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and in good working order. Must be willing to travel the entire service area.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience
  • Minimum two years’ experience in related field; hospice or health care experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED, associate degree preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, and Volunteer Software.
  • Interacts frequently with individuals providing excellent customer service and support.
  • Experience working for a foundation or not for profit organization, preferred.
