NCCS is a consortium of 25 member schools, serving as an alternative setting for students in grades K-12, and is a part of the Manson Northwest Webster Community School District. The North Central Consortium School serves students who are disconnected from traditional education, coping with the effects of trauma or challenging behavior, social, and emotional needs. We strive to provide a safe, positive, & caring environment through an inclusive, student-centered program of counseling, social skills training, and academics. We establish clear behavior expectations, develop coping skills & self-regulation, build self-esteem, and teach students respect, empathy, and how to build positive relationships. The primary goal is to support the student in building the skills necessary to successfully transition back to their resident district.

The North Central Consortium School is currently accepting applications for a Full-Time School Nurse. NCCS offers a general education program with special education supports. There are many features of the program that allows students an opportunity for academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth while enrolled.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Must have good communication skills, be flexible, and patient.
• Have an understanding of a Trauma Informed Care approach
• Gathers necessary information to write, implement, and manage individual health plans as appropriate
• Provides health counseling and guidance and referrals to students and their families
• Maintains appropriate records and protects the confidentiality of data.
• Administers medication and treatment prescribed by physicians.
• Provide emergency care, administers first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures.
• Educate staff on health issues and distributes health information on management of health concerns
• Assists the district as required for participation in federal programs such as Medicare, Medicaid
• Implements board policy and Iowa Health Codes on exclusion and re-admission of students
• Perform attendance checks and call parents if absence has not been reported.
• Maintain the health office, ensure everything is clean and organized, and maintain inventory of supplies.
• Attend mandatory programs including First Aid/CPR, medication administration, blood-borne pathogens and any other required courses.
• Provide reception; answer telephone, greet visitors and direct them to appropriate locations and deliver messages to staff and students. Provide backup support for the secretary when at lunch or in meetings.

Certification Requirements:

• RN or BSN
• RN Licensed in the State of Iowa
• PK-12 School Nurse
