Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking a full-time Supervisory General Engineer 009606581Mtowork in the AFNWC Nuclear Technology and Integration Directorate at Eglin Air Force Base near Fort Walton Beach, Florida. This position will serve as the Eglin Operating Location Lead for the Nuclear Technology and Integration Directorate.

This position is an NH-0801-04, which has a typical 2024 salary range of $123,485 - $188,821.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Operating Location Lead for the Nuclear Technology and Integration Directorate at Eglin Air Force Base. The lead will support and expedite nuclear certification, Air Force Nuclear Red Team assessments, as well as assist advanced concept requirement development. The OL provides real-time on-site LRSO and AFPEO weapons collaboration and communication that meets the day-to-day program tempo eliminating communication and approval bottlenecks. The OL will, while adhering to the expectations of existing guidance and instructions, explore ways to tailor and/or modify the existing nuclear certification process by adapting it to the Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering (DE) environments.

Candidates should have a strong background in professional engineering principles, methods, and techniques to effectively apply advanced engineering theories and practices across multiple weapon systems and platforms. Furthermore, the candidate will assess the impact of emerging technology on current systems and processes to formulate recommendations and solutions.

DUTIES:

  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets, and adjusts short- and long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
  • Plans, organizes, oversees, and executes the activities of the team to including review and approval of all test plans / reports and surety assessments. Reviews all requirements and products.
  • Serves as a consultant and expert in engineering work involving the application of advanced theories, concepts, and principles related to development or sustainment of systems related to nuclear certification. Provide expert advice to senior colleagues and / or agency officials responsible for broad program operations.
  • Serves as the on-site expert to liaise and integrate LRSO, AFRL, and PEO Weapons on AFNWC/NT Mission areas.
  • Serves as the on-site SME for Nuclear Red Team, Nuclear Weapons Effects analyses, and Advanced Concept Development in support of the Nuclear Enterprise.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:

  • U.S. CITIZENSHIP and SECRET Clearance with eligibility for TOP SECRET
  • Employee must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering Discipline from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college of Engineering
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; employee must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position. Employee is expected to meet Continuous Acquisition Education requirements
  • In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act, 1978, employee may be required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
