The Central New York Land Trust, Inc. is Hiring a Development and Fundraising Manager Near Fayetteville, NY

The Central New York Land Trust is seeking a Development Manager to lead their fundraising and communications efforts. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing fundraising activities and promoting conservation efforts through various communication channels including securing public and private sources of funding to support an annual operating budget between $500,000 - $1,000,000. This position will oversee communications that both promote and raise support for conservation, including managing a website, a newsletter, social media, press releases, and additional outreach. The Development Manager is part of a leadership team that includes the Director of Stewardship, headed by the Executive Director.

  • Strategic Development and Communications: Develop and lead a comprehensive development and communications program, utilizing data to optimize strategies and approaches.
  • Relationship Building: Build and nurture strong relationships with Land Trust members and supporters to secure philanthropic contributions, including major gifts, planned giving, annual fund, and special project fundraising.
  • Major Donor Portfolio: Develop and manage a portfolio of major donors to support the organization's initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, relevant board committees, and volunteers to plan and execute strategic initiatives, focusing on long-term development strategies.
  • Prospect Research: Collaborate with staff and volunteers to identify individual, business, corporate, and foundation prospects for funding opportunities.
  • Foundation and Corporate Relations: Coordinate private and public foundation and corporate relations, including grant writing and reporting.
  • Donor Management: Oversee donor acknowledgment and database systems.
  • Marketing and Communications: Develop and continually refine a comprehensive marketing and communications program, including marketing strategies, messaging, branding, social media, events, and website management.
  • Visibility Enhancement: Increase the organization's visibility among the general public and the conservation sector.
  • Mission Understanding: Develop a deep understanding of CNYLT's mission, strategic initiatives, projects, and programs.
  • Skills: Demonstrate excellent analytical, writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills. Supervisory experience is required.
  • Independence and Flexibility: Be able to manage a high level of responsibility and work independently. Be willing to work flexible hours and travel throughout the region.
  • Qualifications: Possess a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years experience in development, individual fundraising, or closely related experience, with nonprofit experience as a plus. Familiarity with donor databases, planned giving, appeals, press releases, and print and digital media communications is desired.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $51,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
