We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors. The ideal candidates will possess a passion for working with children and a commitment to providing a safe, fun, and enriching camp experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervision and Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers by monitoring activities, enforcing camp rules, and providing first aid when necessary.

• Activity Leadership: Plan, organize, and lead a variety of camp activities including arts and crafts, fitness, games, swimming, and educational activities.

• Camper Engagement: Create a welcoming and inclusive environment, encouraging camper participation and fostering positive relationships among campers.

• Role Modeling: Serve as a positive role model for campers, demonstrating respect, responsibility, and enthusiasm.

• Conflict Resolution: Address and mediate conflicts between campers in a constructive manner.

• Communication: Maintain open communication with campers, parents, and fellow staff members. Report any issues or concerns to the Camp Director.

• Logistics and Administration: Assist with camp setup, cleanup, and other logistical tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in education, recreation, or related fields is a plus.

• Experience: Previous experience working with children in a camp, educational, or recreational setting preferred.

• Skills:

• Strong leadership and organizational skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to dynamic situations.

• Basic first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Working Conditions

• Physical Demands: Ability to participate in physical activities, including swimming and light hiking.

Responsibilities

• Plan indoor and outdoor activities for groups of campers
• Create weekly or daily schedules taking into account children’s age groups and interests
• Lead recreational and educational activities
• Escort and oversee children
• Educate campers through games and explorations
• Resolve occasional conflicts between children and address behavioral issues
• Make sure all safety rules are followed
• Ensure camp environment is clean
• Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed
• Keep accurate incident logs

• Proven experience as Camp Counselor or similar role working with children

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina to follow strenuous activities like hiking, running, crouching or carrying children)
• First aid- and CPR-certified preferred

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $15.00 per hour
