The Purchasing Agent executes the planning and management of all activities involved in procurement, conversion, and logistics. General areas of responsibility include coordination and collaboration with suppliers, intermediaries, third-party service providers, and customers; integration of supply and demand management for Signature Hardware. Positions in purchasing are responsible for purchasing the services and supplies necessary for the organization's operations.
This is a Hybrid role based out of Erlanger, KY or Newport News, VA location, in accordance with the Company Flex schedule; 3 days office / 2 days remote.
Responsibilities
- Work effectively with both domestic and foreign suppliers
- Place purchase orders with domestic and foreign suppliers, expediting, and providing customer service functions as needed
- Review Order Confirmations for accuracy
- Create, review and amend Letters of Credit
- Work with overseas vendors to estimate container stuffing for maximum cost effectiveness
- Negotiate ship dates with suppliers to ensure goods arrive in a timely manner.
- Reconciliation of payable discrepancies
- Liaise with Product Development Team to anticipate their demand for goods and materials
- Review inventory requests, production schedules, and other information to coordinate purchasing activities with the organization's current and anticipated demand for goods and materials
- Monitor the timeliness of materials and goods supplied; follow-up on the status of purchase orders with vendors to ensure timely delivery and communicate status to internal customers
- Resolve vendor related issues regarding delivery, timing, quantity and specifications
- 7 years of experience with purchasing and data entry
- Ability to work with vendors via email whose primary language is not English
- Exceptional math skills, detail oriented and high level of organization
- Strong ability to use Excel, Outlook Email, and Reporting Software
- Experience working effectively with a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey information to internal customers in a clear, focused and concise manner
- Self-starter that has initiative to learn new things
- Capacity to act as a problem solver
- Time management, organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities
- Must be able to work independently maintaining a fast pace
- Excellent people skills to interact with colleagues, cross-functional teams and suppliers
Pay Range$3,600.00 - $7,791.30
Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
