Toyota Boshoku America is Hiring a Purchasing Buyer Near Erlanger, KY

I. General Summary:
Develop and manage multiple suppliers to meet company goals and objectives in Purchasing including readiness for new programs and development of underperforming suppliers. Track, monitor, manage, schedule, and coordinate suppliers and parts from design stage to program phase out. Investigate, evaluate, and direct suppliers in performance management.

II. Essential Job Functions:

A. Plans, schedules, coordinates, supports, and leads detailed audits of supplier processes to ensure that policies and procedures comply with TBA SPTT (Supplier Parts Tracking Team) and SQM (Supplier Quality Manual) guidelines.

B. Manage the development and launch of new tooling and equipment in the supply base that meet program specifics.

C. Act as Project Leader to ensure projects meet each milestone’s requirements.

D. Develop, deploy and manage part by part matrix for each new project for SPPM department.

E. Gather and review each supplier’s Risk Assessment document. Plan, schedule and coordinate official SPTT Risk Assessment meeting with cross functional team.

F. Develop underperforming suppliers to ensure top results from supply chain.

G. Lead scheduled meetings and supplier audits with supplier and key TBA personnel through the “SPTT” process to ensure production readiness.

H. Ensure production preparation through supply chain during the pre-production phase by leading launch team activities at various supply locations.

I. Prepare and report program status, including KPI tracking, for program milestones and visits.

J. Gather and review accuracy of key program documents received from suppliers during each program launch phase.

K. Ensure supplier meets committed delivery dates by tracking progress and working with team to remove obstacles.

L. Work with supplier and TBA manufacturing personnel to improve supplier performance relating to quality and delivery.

M. Assist in problem resolution activities between supplier and TBA manufacturing location.

N. Verify closure of supplier open issues by Genchi Genbutsu (Go, See and Study).

O. Provides support assistance to TBJ Global SPTT group in training and monitoring production preparation of overseas suppliers.

P. Audit potential new suppliers.

III. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

Education:

· Bachelor of Science in Engineering or technical field (e.g., Quality) required, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience:

· Greater than four (4) years of relevant experience required.

· Minimum of 3 years experience in any of the related fields:

§ Production/Process Engineering

§ Quality Engineering

§ Process Auditing (ISO9001/TS16949)

§ Project Management

Personal/Technical Skills:

· Basic understanding of the industrial equipment and manufacturing processes relating to plastics, metals, foam and textiles.

· Thorough understanding of company product, trade terminology, and quality management and control systems (e.g., TS-16949) and techniques.

· Able to work in a fast paced, multicultural work environment.

· Ability to function both independently and with good judgment in a team environment.

· Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work efficiently within time constraints and deadlines, and handle stressful situations.

· Effective problem-solving and resolution skills.

· Listen well, ask relevant questions, and give and receive clear and understandable instructions.

· Ability to lead cross-functional meetings.

· Strong organization, planning, and analytical skills.

· Ability to communicate and work well with all levels of the organization.

· Ability to compile effective and concise visual reports.

· Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.

· Ability to work more than eight hours in a day or to work on a holiday or weekend if needed.

Language Skills:

· Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex information in verbal and written English.

· Japanese, Spanish, and/or Portuguese would be helpful.

Computer/Software:

· Previous experience working with integrated computer programs and/or applications. ERP System experience (e.g., Oracle) preferred.

· Solid working knowledge and demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Lotus Notes/Outlook, Internet, etc.).

IV. Work Environment/Conditions:

Office: Open Office Environment, moderate noise level.
Plant: Various types of manufacturing environments.

· Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level.

· PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, Kevlar sleeves, hearing protection, etc. may be required in designated engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.

· Involves moderate or occasional presence of some slightly disagreeable conditions, i.e., cold, dust, heat, odor, etc.

Travel: Must be willing to travel up to 70% of the time.

V. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time. May be occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to sit and work on a computer for extensive periods of time is required. Travel long distances by plane or automobile (sometimes with short notice).
