Job Overview :
Transportation of horses to and from the 3 NYRA Tracks
Essential Functions :
- Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
- Maneuver truck into loading or unloading position.
- Inspect truck before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.
- Read bill of lading to determine assignment.
- Service truck with oil, fuel, and radiator fluid to maintain tractor-trailer.
Qualifications :
- A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Medical Card and NY Gaming Commission License
- Clean driving record
- Proficient in Manual and Automatic Transmission
- Knowledge of commercial driving regulations
- Knowledge of handling horses
- Maintain driver log according to regulations
- Must be willing to work in all types of weather conditions
- Available Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays
Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment :
Moderate to extreme danger working around race horses due to the size, temperament and unpredictability of horses’ behavior and movements.
This job involves working outdoors much of the time.
There is repetitive hand movements requirement. Van drivers are required to reach or work above and below shoulder level and to lift between 30 to 50 lbs.
