CLASSIFICATION: Labor Relations Specialist

GRADE: Exempt, Regular Full-time

REPORTS TO: Human Resources Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinates and acts as liaison between employees, labor union, and company. Participates in labor contract negotiations. Process formal grievances; schedule or coordinate the details of grievance meetings; mediate discussions between company, employee, and employee representative; prepare responses to union information requests, and follow up as required. Maintain documentation for all labor activities. Must be knowledgeable in federal, state and local regulations pertaining to labor issues. Knowledge of government contracts desired. Make recommendations for changes to existing policies to ensure compliance with new or proposed regulations. Ensures compliance with collective bargaining agreements in the administration of benefits and compensation plans. Assist HR Manager with work place investigations. Provide administrative support to HR office as needed.

GENERAL DUTIES: Reports to the Human Resources Manager. Position provides oversight and ensures compliance as it relates to administration of the collective bargaining agreements with union represented employees.

OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission requirements in job-related areas.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Position requires a Bachelors Degree and two years of experience; an Associates degree or two-year certificate from college or technical school with three (3) years related labor relations; or five (5) years of Human Resources experience with an emphasis on labor relations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a National Agency Check with Investigation. Position may require candidate to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement into this position. Supports E-OMS operational objectives.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Duties are normally performed in an office environment with some duties performed outside in the field. Travel may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; and requires very little lifting or moving of heavy objects or materials. May require sitting for long periods of time.
