To help us continue expanding our offerings, we’re in search of an experienced Product Development Manager with an emphasis in home decor and crafting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for art and design, creative interests, a keen eye for gaps in consumer product offerings and an innovative mindset for filling them. This person should be a highly skilled project manager with a proven ability to strategize the full lifecycle of a product, from conception to release. We’re looking for a confident leader who can guide cross-functional teams in the creation of products that improve customer experience and grow market share. This position will be a hybrid position working in the office 3 days a week.

Objectives of this role

• Drive the product- and business-planning processes for cross-functional teams
• Analyze customer needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships from an ROI and build-vs-buy perspective
• Assess current competitor offerings and seek opportunities for differentiation
• Analyze product requirements and develop appropriate programs to ensure they’re met
• Develop, implement, and maintain production timelines across multiple departments
• Appraise new product and category ideas and strategize appropriate go-to-market plans

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drive the execution of all processes in the product life cycle, including product and market research, competitor analysis, planning, positioning, requirements and roadmap development, and product launch of all items/categories assigned.
• Handle the project management, timelines, and communication with the entire process of categories/items assigned.
• Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for prototyping and final development by the supplier
• Collaborate closely with product strategy, production (if internal) and marketing, in the development, QA, and release of products, balancing resources to ensure success for the entire organization
• Work with Supply Chain through development issues to ensure targeted launch dates are met
• Working with Marketing, develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates Chalk Couture across primary market segments
• Work directly with vendors overseas and domestic to source new categories and market based items and create exclusive items as well. 
• Handle pricing and contract negotiations with vendors.

Required skills and qualifications

• Able to take initiative/ownership to drive projects from conception to completion
• Strong knowledge of Product Management framework, process and life cycle
• Experience in a dynamic product management role
• Proven success in overseeing all elements of the product development lifecycle
• High effectiveness in working with various stakeholders
• Experience in delivering finely tuned product marketing strategies
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Experience sourcing, managing, communicating, and negotiating directly with vendors in all locations, overseas and domestic. 

Preferred skills and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in product management or design
• 4-6 years of product development experience
• Experience with a wide range of product programs and product development
• Experience with consumer packaged goods, direct selling or retail
• Preferred experience in soft goods categories- home, fashion, accessories. 
• Metrics-driven experience in defining and developing programs and products to meet market needs
• Personal interest and passion for crafts, creativity, and innovation with a wide variety of interests. 
• Have a curiosity for finding unique and innovative ways to create and experiment using a variety of mediums.
