Mount Sopris Instrument Company is a leading manufacturer of borehole geophysical logging systems for groundwater, mining, geotechnical and other applications. We are seeking a Mechanical Technician to assemble our full line of geophysical winches. Mount Sopris is a small company of about 20 people which means we can be more flexible than a large corporate structure and there will always be opportunities to learn and advance your skills. This position is Monday through Friday with a 40-hour work week, no weekends or mandatory overtime.

Your Responsibilities:

• Read and execute visual work instructions with minimal oversight
• Assemble and spool winches
• Use of computers as well as records information on the process sheets correctly.
• Understanding of material handling practices. Alert purchasing department if material is not present
• Inspect work-in-process to documented quality standards to ensure parts and assemblies meet production standards.

Required Skills and job duties:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, 2 year Degree or Technical School Graduate preferred.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Maintain clean and organized production workstations.
• Ability to utilize small hand tools such as Allen wrenches
• Occasional lifting required, 50 lbs.

• Base Rate: $21.00/hr
• Benefits: $4.94/hr
• Vacation (first year): $1.76/hr
• 401K match (3% at 100% & 2% at 50%): $0.84/hr
• Effective Hourly Rate (less profit sharing): $28.54/hr
