Description Of JobPosition Summary:The Office of Facility Schools supports many of our most at-risk youth, as they attend approved facility schools while receiving treatment. The office values data and the ability to highlight the progress students make while in our schools. The Data Systems Manager provides internal and external support and training for technological systems and data used by the Office of Facility Schools and approved facility schools. The position will be responsible for coordinating and managing data collections, data analysis, analytics, and reporting for stakeholders. This position will lead technical aspects of the technology systems and provide training and support to the field with in-person and virtual training. The data systems manager will manage contracts for technological systems vendors. This role will be the primary contact for data reporting and requests both internal and external.
Major Duties And ResponsibilitiesManage the Office of Facility School's Student Information System and assist with supporting the state's special education IEP system, diagnostic assessment system, as well as the state assessment system.
Provide district level administration of the facility school's Student Information System and diagnostic assessment system.
Develop and provide training and assistance, to facility school educators, in troubleshooting problems with technological systems used by facility schools.
Serve as lead trainer to all facility schools and staff for Student Information System - coordinate support with other office staff.
Serve as primary contact person for data reporting and technical support to the field for all data systems.
Maintain a high level of expertise in the use of and application of existing tools and systems to provide support internally and externally to stakeholders.
Develop/adapt training documents and tutorial resources for facility school users, for all technical systems.
Coordinate and manage, in collaboration with IMS, all data collection, analytics, analysis, and reporting for facility schools and the office, including connectivity between systems as applicable.
Participate in all meetings with technological system vendors regarding contracts, services, training, etc.
Manage contracts for technological systems.
Develop and/or support the creation of data reports with visualization to support the office and facility schools - includes presenting data to the Facility Schools Board and Directors, and reports for the state board.
Respond to data requests from CDE, other agencies, or the public.
Represent the Office of Facility Schools on cross-unit data related committees and participate in all CDE data management meetings.
Participate and communicate with system developers for all database systems used by or for facility schools.
Manage the compilation and organization of facility school data for accountability measures and accreditation.
Serve as lead for CDE data collection for facility schools' tuition cost rates and student counts.
Office of Facility Schools' data manager of the following systems: IDM management, RITS, School Master, COOL, and other internal data systems as applicable.
Assist office staff in maintaining the website, listservs, and responding to transcript requests.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions Of Employment & Appeal RightsMINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Five years of related work experience, or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent, Education, (Required)
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working with Student Information Systems and Diagnostic Assessments - can be part of five years of related work experience
  • Working experience with Infinite Campus (Student Information System) (Required)
  • Knowledge and experience with CDE's Data Pipeline system or similar system (Required)
  • Working experience with iReady or similar diagnostic assessments (Diagnostic assessment) (Required)
  • Working experience with approved facility schools (Preferred)
Conditions Of Employment (Required)
  • Must be willing and able to submit to the pre-screening process and pass a background check.
  • Ability to travel statewide, seasonal, up to 25%
