GEO Specialty Chemicals is Hiring a Production Engineer Near Deer Park, TX

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Engineer for our Deer Park location.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, track and report key performance indicators for the plant and other performance metrics for area of responsibility, identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Track production metrics and remove bottlenecks to achieve schedule compliance.
  • Refine or identify opportunities for optimizing process controls.
  • Participate in plant shutdown/turnaround planning and execution.
  • Assist in the evaluation of any new products and or processes. 
  • Track process yields, establish targets/goals. Recommend and show improvement in yields in Glycine.
  • Learn plant processes and become technical expert both internally and externally. Lead troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis of any off spec production or process issues.
  • Modify (or develop new) procedures as required in accordance with plant policies for any such changes (MOC, etc.).
  • Train and mentor plant operations personnel on proper process techniques and changes to ensure continuity from day to day.
  • Assist with loss prevention reviews and recommend/incorporate safety controls on new or modified processes.
  • Other duties or special projects may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5 to 10 years of experience as a production engineer in a chemical plant 
  • BS or higher in Chemical Engineering
  • Experience with Process Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment Reviews.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of office productivity software, including spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Experience with standard operating procedures.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations, PSM/RMP.

Desired:

  • 6 sigma green belt certification
  • High-level knowledge of process control software systems.
  • Experience working with boilers, compressors, chillers and cooling towers.
