Halifax Health is seeking a Rehab Tech for the Rehabilitative Services Department.
The Rehab Tech assists the Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist to carry out prescribed treatment plans to assigned pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Will possess knowledge and skills to care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Completion of Physical or Occupational Aide course or one year’s experience with demonstration of proficiency of skills required.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions, an ability to relate effectively to patients and families with physical and psychological disabilities. Ability to take responsibility for tasks performed on a repetitive basis without instruction. Must be skilled in providing care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients
Assists the therapist with patient’s treatment plan to include: heat, cold, light, water and electricity. Responsiveness, accuracy and alertness in assisting. Takes responsibility for carrying out established programs under supervision.
Assists in ambulating patients to include: placing and removing patients from wheelchairs, stretchers, etc. and assisting patients to restrooms using appropriate and safe techniques.
Assists therapist in fitting patients with walkers, crutches, orthopedic and other supportive devices. Accuracy and safety.
Assists the therapist with Cybex, Biodex and other exercise equipment. Applies CPM devices safely and in a timely manner.
Clean and maintain walkers, wheelchairs and other rehab equipment for patient use on all floors.
Maintains and stocks supplies in department. Notifies Office Coordinator when supplies are low.
Transports patients. Ensures patient’s safety and observes patient’s condition during transit and reports any changes in condition to therapist. Timely communication, accuracy and safety in transportation.
Performs miscellaneous tasks including: answering phones, running errands, filling in for secretary and keeping department safe and clean. Timeliness and accuracy in performing assigned tasks.
