Falls Stamping & Welding/Newcan is Hiring an Assembly Line Worker Near Cuyahoga Falls, OH

Reports To: Shift Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY: Operates machinery, including polishing and grinding equipment, to grind any metal workpieces to their prescribed specifications to ensure high-quality products.

HAND TOOL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Files grooved, contoured, and irregular surfaces of metal products, such as metal working dies and machine parts, to conform to templates, other parts, layouts, and blueprint specifications.
  • Grinds, sands, cleans, or polishes products or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing with the use of hand tools.
  • Trims, scrape, or deburr products or parts, using chisels, scrapers, and other hand tool equipment. POWER TOOL

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Grinds, sands, cleans, or polishes products or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing with the use of power tools.
  • Verifies quality of finished work pieces by inspecting, comparing the products to templates, measuring the dimensions, or testing the product in working machinery.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and/or Experience - High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate). Press Operations and General Production experience preferred.
  • Language Skills –Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written instructions. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or board of directors. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisor, clients, staff, vendors, etc.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. This role requires an above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the individual is to remain in a stationary position for 60 percent of the time while operating hand and power tools on the shop floor. They frequently operate motorized equipment and machines. The individual needs to occasionally move about on the shop floor to transport parts, access tools, equipment, parts, and other necessary items to complete the work order. The individual frequently positions self to operate machines, including underneath and above the machine. They use the hands continuously while performing all job duties. Most of the activities involve fine and gross manipulation of items. They must be able to exchange accurate information with other individuals in the office and shop. Must be able to detect mechanical issues and part defects from short distances to determine what action needs to be taken. They must regularly push, pull, and/or move up to 30 pounds. The individual must be capable of carrying and loading different parts and tools required to complete the job. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Due to exposure of machinery and electrical currents, employees are required to wear personal protective equipment such as ear and eye protection, gloves, and steel toe boots. During warmer months, the required personal protective equipment may cause the employee to be very warm while working. The individual will be exposed to loud machinery or equipment.
