VIRGINIA INDUSTRIES INC is Hiring a Facilities Maintenance Technician I Near Culpeper, VA

Summary

Keep facility in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. All duties to be performed with in Safety, Quality, and Productivity standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned that pertain to this classification.

  • Confer with coworkers to coordinate maintenance or cleaning activities.
  • Select equipment, materials, or supplies for cleaning or maintenance activities.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Continuously police assigned areas to ensure cleanliness.
  • Restock paper supplies in assigned areas. 
  • Oversee daily trash removal, sweeping/mopping/vacuuming, of assigned areas.
  • Participate in continuous training as it relates to roles and responsibilities.

Education/experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prior cleaning experience manufacturing facility

Knowledge:

  • Mechanical- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. 

Skills:

  • Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Operation and Control - Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Quality Control Analysis - Conducting inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Communication - Able to convey information effectively.
  • Time Management - Managing one's own time.

Abilities:

  • Reaction Time - The ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
  • Manual Dexterity - The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Multi-limb Coordination - The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
  • Trunk Strength - The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time.
  • Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

Standing, stooping and squatting can be expected along with repetitive lifting or with other means transfer of tooling, parts, containers and raw materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception and ability to focus.

The performance of this position normally requires exposure to typical manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment: Steel toed shoes, Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.

Primary environment: Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining. Industrial lighting provided.
