Description:

Summary

Responsible for enhancing project execution by working closely with the Engineering Manager to plan and facilitate improvement (capital and maintenance) projects and process improvements. Responsible for enhancing the Company’s overall maintenance strategy by collaborating with the maintenance team to provide support in overcoming maintenance challenges.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist Engineering manager with project planning and execution. Provide assistance to operations team in their education and optimization of new processes/equipment.
  • Assist with planning, execution and tracking of annual shutdowns.
  • Interact with, and monitor, contractors and vendors to provide appropriate feedback to management regarding project status.
  • Evaluate project plans for impact on maintainability of surrounding equipment as well ensuring new equipment can be maintained effectively.
  • Evaluate equipment drawings to ensure equipment is properly sized to fit assigned area.
  • Conduct walkthroughs with appropriate contractors / vendors to facilitate project bids for all aspects of a project (mechanical, electrical, structural, etc.).
  • Work closely with Maintenance group with ability to provide assistance / extra hand as needed.
  • Assist with maintenance emergencies on an as needed basis at the discretion of the Engineering manager.
  • Work closely with Operations group to identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Work closely with Safety manager to identify opportunities to improve worker safety.
  • Produce project management documentation such as request for proposal, bid comparison, among others.
  • Ability to utilize appropriate programs to update drawings such as P&IDs and site general arrangement drawings.
  • Ability to utilize CMMS program to generate purchase orders and track project costs.
  • Ability to utilize appropriate software to put together project schedule documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required in the plant.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate expert mechanical aptitude and excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly proficient with CMMS.
  • Experience with programs such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • Able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance, operations, or other relevant field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the operations of an ethanol plant preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to work in outside conditions and adverse weather.
  • Walking on catwalks at a variety of heights
  • Entering and working in confined spaces
  • Working at heights up to 200ft. with appropriate safety equipment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to dusty conditions.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather in all conditions.
  • The employee will regularly be exposed to chemicals used in the process.
