Position Title: Assistant Principal
Reports To: Principal
Primary Function:
Assist the principal of the school in providing leadership and guidance in the effective, efficient operations of the assigned school, managing the curriculum and instructional program, and maintaining a safe, orderly environment conducive to learning.
Requirements:Must have experience at High School level
Educational Level: Masters Degree.
Certification/Licensing: Leadership Certification or eligible
Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills, administrative, supervisory and leadership skills. Ability to deal with multiple tasks, computer competence, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Personal Skills: Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, physical skills and stamina to perform essential duties.
Salary: Georgia/Local Certified Salary Schedule –11 month, Responsibility Supplement

14.Reports to principal about status of programs.
15.Makes recommendations of appropriate actions and alternatives to the principal.
16.Keeps abreast of and informs the principal of changes in rules and regulations of the Georgia Board of Education and state and federal laws concerning area of responsibility.
17.Keeps abreast of and informs the principal of current trends and developments concerning area of responsibility.
18.Plans and implements school budget according to system guidelines and procedures.
19.Ensures expenditures are within approved limits.
20.Monitors compliance with policies and laws concerning area of responsibility.
21.Enhances the climate of the building and the morale of colleagues.
22.Demonstrates loyalty to the school system and administration.
23.Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
CURRICULUM
Assures the quality of teacher’s lessons were high and reflected the school system standards.
Assures that the curriculum addresses all levels of students.
Assures that the curriculum that teachers used reflected the school system’s academic standards.
STUDENT PERFORMANCE
Provides documentation annually to superintendent or designee relating to status and progress of student achievement.
Met or exceeded established benchmarks for student achievement.
Met or exceeded established benchmarks for student attendance.
Met or exceeded established benchmarks for participation in higher level classes and/or groupings.
STAFF PERFORMANCE
Conducts appropriate staff evaluations and provides staff with meaningful feedback regarding ways to improve their performance.
Identifies staff who required improvement and developed appropriate improvement plans.
Provides appropriate documentation of ineffective performance for staff who demonstrated lack of competence, ineffective practices, poor performance of their students and/or an unwillingness to improve.
COMPREHENSIVE IMPROVEMENT PLANS
Provides leadership in collaboratively developing the school improvement plan.
Employs strategies in the school improvement plan that focus on areas identified in needs assessments.
Involves all personnel in supporting efforts of the classroom teachers.
ACADEMIC FOCUS
Provides school staff with sufficient flexibility in the use of time, support from non-classroom teachers to support classroom teachers and resources to assure that student needs at all achievement levels are served appropriately.
Assures that appropriate remediation is implemented for students not achieving on grade level.
Assures that effective behavior plans are developed and disseminated to students, teachers, and parents and implemented throughout the school in every classroom
ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING AND ADMINISTRATIVE PERFORMANCE
Manages the school and school plant efficiently in a neat, clean safe and inviting manner.
Develops and maintains a progressive discipline plan with consistency and fairness.
Communicates appropriately and professionally with parents about disciplinary matters.
Completed paperwork, reports and made decisions in a timely and responsive fashion.
COMMUNICATIONS
Communicates the academic standards, objectives and expectations for student performance to all students, parents and the school community.
Maintains open two-way communications regarding program initiatives and/or problems with central office.
