What We WantThe Graphic Designer II will responsible for designing, creating, formatting, and editing elements that will appear in high quality and creative multimedia products. These products will include presentations, graphics, videos, websites, microsites, newsletters, and other electronic output developed by the Libraries marketing and communications office. The selected candidate will shape the visual direction for the Libraries' marketing and communications materials that appear online and in print. Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphics Design, Fine Arts or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of related experience in graphics design, web development, print, and electronic media, marketing or related design field
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to create original concepts and images through drawing or sketches
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software programs
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • More than two years of related experience in graphic design, web development, print or electronic media, market or related design field
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom, After Effects and other Adobe design programs as needed
  • Experience working with additional design software such as Canva and Adobe Express
  • Experience creating marketing print-based material, including brochures, fliers, catalogs, print/digital signage and videos
  • Experience working with vendors, including establishing timelines and making detailed recommendations for printers
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to translate client needs into executable designs
  • Working knowledge of XHTML, CSS, and open standards in web technologies such as XML and XSLT.
  • Advanced knowledge of web accessibility standards and print accessibility standards
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with an ability to handle multiple assignments in a high-volume, demanding environment
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative in a changing environment, communicate and work effectively as part of a team, self-motivated and put forth extra effort in getting a task accomplished
  • Ability to be flexible with work assignments and environments
Responsibilities:
  • Multimedia Graphic Design: Designs, creates, formats, and edits elements that will appear in high quality and creative multimedia products. Oversees and creates Libraries campaigns and project themes. Stays up to date with graphic design trends and design software advancements. Assists with photography and photo editing. Assists with video production. Develops a vision for Libraries exhibitions and publications consistent with brand standards. Assists in transporting and assembling marketing materials to various campus locations. Works with Libraries offsite locations on the ensuring marketing materials are set up properly. Assists in planning marketing and communications strategies with Libraries staff.
  • Print Graphic Design and Development: Works with staff and Library Administration to create printed materials, recommend project specifications, obtain pricing from vendor, prep files and oversee production ensuring timely delivery of materials. Reviews and approves proofs and edits for projects.
  • Project Management: Maintains lists of current and potential vendors. Maintains reports on amounts spent with each vendor and coordinates the necessary paperwork accompanying projects with outside vendors. Manages the process for projects that must be bid. Coordinates files getting to vendors and having completed projects delivered to clients or to the marketing and communications team. Assists in creating and leading cohesive marketing across projects and campaigns.
  • Branding Standards: Maintains a catalog of materials and resources that represent and support university brand guidelines, including stock photography, color pallets, textures, typography. Edits and evaluates all Libraries materials in accordance with Texas A&M University brand standards and performs other duties as assigned.
