WTTW/Chicago PBS and WFMT/Chicago Classical is Hiring a Vice President of Finance and Administration Near Chicago, IL

WTTW (Chicago PBS) and WFMT (classical music radio station) are looking for a VP of Finance and Administration. Reporting to the President & CEO, and serving as a key member of the executive leadership team, the VP of Finance will have day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial activities; ensuring that business and support areas are properly coordinated with programmatic areas; serving as a thought leader; overseeing and directing finance and accounting policies and procedures across the organization; and leading efforts for process improvements and performance enhancements. The VP of Finance will also oversee in-house legal whose primary duty is to provide guidance in the areas of rights/IP, licensing, contracts, and compliance. As an important member of the management team, the VP of Finance will work closely with appropriate Board committees, members of the Board of Trustees, and public broadcasting system contacts to implement governance strategies and report on performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate WTTW-WFMT's financial function and performance with responsibility for budgeting, accounting, cash management, investment management, accounts payable, and more.

Lead the annual planning and budgeting process and serve as a strategic partner to department heads in the development of budgets and annual budget preparation; monitor annual operating and capital budgets.

Implement strong measurement processes to facilitate the analysis of financial data; prepare regular board presentations and finance committee presentations.

Direct, supervise, and streamline the organization's financial and budget process, including the framework for budget preparation and reporting; supervise budget control systems and monitor budgets and forecasts.

Oversee the organization's achievement of budget goals; provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets and monthly and quarterly financial forecasts and trends to support the CEO, the Board, and the senior leadership team.

Maintain sound internal control and cash management procedures.

Manage cash flow and debt financing and ensure the timeliness and accuracy of department compliance.

Direct the preparation of all financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and reports for government and other regulatory agencies.

With the organization's independent auditors, coordinate the preparation of financial statements, tax returns, internal controls, and all documents necessary to support the annual internal audit process.

Work with legal and finance teams to ensure legal and regulatory compliance of all financial functions; ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting for funders, the Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.

Work with external endowment managers to provide oversight for all investments.

Staff and support the Board Finance Committee and its working groups.

Direct banking and credit card processing relationships, including negotiation of letter of credit and debt covenants.

Lead with a collaborative, customer-service approach in providing support and reporting to revenue areas including membership, development, and sales; provide leadership around the financial management and structure of selected fundraising campaigns.

Serve as a thought partner to the Chief Development Officer to interpret fundraising strategies and short and long-term goals into operation and program expenditure budgets.

Collaborate on revenue forecasting/reforecasting and refining endowment and multi-year philanthropic revenue projections.

As a "hands-on" leader and mentor, lead a team of accounting and business administrative professionals with performance goals and pathways.

Represent WTTW in selected business relationships with external entities including banks, creditors, auditors, law firms, investment managers, insurance brokers and insurers, actuaries, and financial advisers.

Oversee creation, review, cataloging and preservation of contracts for goods and services.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Nonprofit finance expertise & business acumen.

Building relationships and leading through influence.

Excellent verbal and communication skills.

Ability to lead and develop team and work cross functionally with all levels of the organization.

EXPERIENCE:Experience in the nonprofit sector accounting is required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or business. An MBA and/or CPA is strongly preferred.
