WTTW (Chicago PBS) and WFMT (classical music radio station) are seeking an Accounting Intern. This position will serve as a junior accountant position during the summer months.They will primarily help with the year-end close and subsequent reporting and the audit. They will report directly to the Controller but may be supervised and tasked by any member of the Finance Team. This is a Temporary Full-time hybrid position (3 days onsite).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES:

Provides the Controller and Finance Department with accounting support in a variety of fiscal and accounting tasks and handles a wide array of administrative tasks to ensure compliance with company/programmatic policies and procedures, professional standards, and external requirements.

·Assists with the financial close process, including preparing and recording journal entries for assigned projects/entities.

·Reconciles receivables and helps with monthly contract billings.

·Researches and solves any financial discrepancies and makes adjustments to accounts.

·Performs assigned general ledger reconciliations, analyzes and researches outstanding items.

·Reviews and ensures compliance with applicable internal controls.

·Works with various areas within the organization to ensure transactions are reflected accurately and timely.

·Assists with cash management and recording banking transactions.

·Provides ad hoc financial reporting.

·Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS:

·Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

·Excellent communication skills.

·Candidate must be organized, detailed, and a problem solver with a customer service mindset.

EXPERIENCE:

•Completed Junior year of college or Accounting Principles and Intermediate Accounting coursework.

•Prior administrative or business internship

COMPENSATION:Interns will be paid $16/hr.

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: Interns need to be at least 18 years of age and currently in school or have graduated within 12 months.
