Safety Officer
Food manufacturing company looking for Plant Safety Officer. Must have experience working in a food manufacturing plant.
Job Purpose:
Creating, enacting, and updating job safety programs, policies & procedures for employees that encompass health and safety regulations as well as company standards for safety in the workplace. Training employees on the importance of health and safety on the job.
Safety Officer Job Duties, in general:
· Auditing production, keeping on the lookout for any unsafe behaviors or infractions in regulations
· Assessing risk and possible safety hazards of all aspects of operations
· Creating analytical reports of safety data
· Inspecting production equipment and processes to make sure they are safe
· Ordering repairs for unsafe and/or damaged equipment
· Focusing on prevention by keeping up with equipment maintenance and employee training
· Presenting safety principles to staff in meetings or lecture-type training sessions
· Participating in continuing education to update knowledge of health and safety protocols and techniques
· Sharing information, suggestions, and observations with leadership to create consistency in safety standards throughout the production team and the entire company
· Meeting company health and safety goals through KPI’s
· Investigating causes of accidents and other unsafe conditions on the job site
· Liaising with Managers and other investigators who are present at the time of a serious accident
· Finding the best way to prevent future accidents
Safety Officer Job Responsibilities:
· Assure all ASM accident reports are properly filled out and submitted on time
· Report OSHA Recordable ASM accidents to Workers Compensation Insurance
· Follow employee injured case until case is closed
· Conduct Monthly Safety Walkthrough for all Facilities
· Help facilitate Monthly Safety Meeting
· Help create, update and validate Safety Manual policies and procedures
· Purchase safety supplies for all facilities
· Provide Alchemy Training for ASM employees and key position temps
· Upload Company policies on Workplace Safety, EHS and HR to Alchemy System
· Update the Alchemy Training matrix
· Update the Monthly Company KPI’s
Salary Position – 45K per year
Shift: 1st shift position
Location: primarily Chicago facility but sometimes visit Bedford Park and McCook facilities
