CCC Careers is Hiring a Lead Architect Near Chicago, IL

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Reporting to the Dir-Capital Planning & Construction, the Lead Architect serves as the district-wide resource, technical consultant and coordinator to all the colleges with regard to capital project development, space planning, equipment needs and preliminary cost estimates for funding.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

·Provides architectural expertise for all college construction projects to ensure quality, efficiency and adherence to schedules.

·Collaborates with college administrators in defining and developing new space planning needs, aligning with education requirements.

·Works with in-house staff on developing projects in design and construction. Assists in developing standardized materials and design criteria for all colleges.

·Designs and provides working drawings to be sealed and signed with specifications for in-house or outside bidding and construction.

·Evaluates off-site real estate spaces and provides professional consultation on potential educational utilization for current or future educational needs.

·Conducts estimated cost analyses, develops time schedules, and explores value engineering options for various capital projects as needed.

·Represents City Colleges at community, city or state meetings pertaining to capital projects.

·Collaborates with Procurement and Legal Counsel to develop RFQs, RFPs and bid packages as needed.

·Leads major programming, planning and design initiatives in coordination with vendor Architects and CCC staff.

·Coordinates with construction managers in construction administration (e.g., RFIs, submittals, FF&E, etc.)

·Works with sister and state agencies in obtaining guidelines and approvals for project development.

·Attends seminars and meetings to stay informed about future development, improvements, and products relevant to educational development.

·Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.

·Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

·Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a directly related field from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree preferred.

·Eight to ten years of progressively responsible experience in the planning, coordination, and development of major architectural projects, including three years in a supervisory capacity.

·A combination of education and experience may be considered based on the candidate’s credentials. Licensed Architect required.

·Experience in higher education and/or public sector construction preferred.

·Comprehensive knowledge of architectural theories, practices, and procedures; architectural design; site development; project administration; sustainability practices; and construction materials.

·Up-to-date knowledge of city and state code requirements and zoning regulations.

·Knowledge and experience with developing accurate project cost budgets and cost impact reports.

·Ability to plan, assign, supervise and inspect the work of subordinate personnel

·Proficiency in preparing clear and concise technical and professional reports

·Ability to establish effective working relationships with consultants and government representatives

·Proficiency in applying architectural theory to solve practical architectural problems, with expertise in planning, organizing and administering complex architectural projects.

·Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

·Ability to work well with administrators and staff at all levels and be able to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.

·Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment

·Proficiency in architectural design software such as AutoCAD and other graphic programs
