Description:

Talkie Communications is the fastest growing Fiber Optic Internet Provider on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. In addition to our network and services growing, so is our team! The GIS Analyst position is a crucial part of our daily operations at Talkie Communications.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting preliminary design assessments for the deployment of fiber optic networks, integrating advanced spatial analysis techniques.
  • Performing intricate corrections and enhancements to previously designed or deployed network configurations, employing sophisticated software tools.
  • Executing meticulous field data processing and integration into GIS-formatted datasets, ensuring seamless interoperability.
  • Creating intricate print layouts and designs that present data for both internal analysis and third-party review, utilizing advanced visualization techniques.
  • Transforming hand-drawn designs into GIS-compatible formats with precision and accuracy, employing advanced digitization methodologies.
  • Engaging in regular, manual internal database management activities to ensure the integrity and accuracy of ongoing projects.
  • Collaborating closely with Department of Transportation and Road Maintenance governmental bodies to secure permit approvals, navigating complex bureaucratic processes.
  • Translating CAD/DXF designs into GIS-compatible formats to facilitate comprehensive project documentation, employing advanced data conversion techniques.
  • Analyzing, implementing, and crafting GIS-formatted files, images, documentation, and spreadsheets related to potential grant areas and areas of opportunity, adhering to stringent application requirements.
  • Administering and maintaining GeoServer/Leaflet hosted intranet server capabilities for seamless internal staff utilization, ensuring uninterrupted access to critical spatial data.
  • Generating a variety of GIS files (such as .shp, .geojson, .kml, .kmz, .geojson – newline delimited, and more) to meet diverse project needs and specifications.
  • Conducting proactive searches, evaluations, and integration of mapped data relevant to fiber network infrastructure development, employing advanced data acquisition strategies.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday – 8am to 5pm in Office.
Remotely working occasional Saturdays w/ Flexibility.
Remote work capable during prearranged circumstances.
