Medical Billing Specialist

Location: Charlotte, NC, 28209

Job Description:

Personal Home Care of North Carolina (PHC) is a rapidly growing full-service home care/home health agency looking for Billing Specialist with prior experience working with home health, hospice, private duty billing.

The Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for accurately and efficiently processing medical billing claims. The Billing Specialist will perform initial billing for Medicare and non-Medicare payors. This includes verifying patient insurance coverage, submitting claims to insurance companies, and following up on unpaid claims. The Medical Billing Specialist will also be responsible for providing resolution to rejected claims, assisting with reporting, maintaining patient records and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility
  • Submit medical billing claims
  • Follow up on unpaid claims and denials
  • Maintain patient records and ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Internal reporting and reconciliation
  • Knowledge of and communication regarding issues related to billing, claims rejections, and unbilled accounts
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines
  • Communicate with internal team and insurance companies as needed
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and business partners

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience in medical billing (specifically with home care, home health and/or hospice)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding
  • Experience with home health/home care/hospice electronic medical records and billing software
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
