Position Summary

The CFO will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, guiding its financial strategy, planning, and managing its fiscal stability. This position reports directly to the CEO. Reporting into the CFO is the VP of Finance and the accounting team.

Essential Job Functions

• Financial Management – Manage the company’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring cash flow. Ensure the financial transactions, policies and procedures meet Karmak’s short- and long-term goals and follow appropriate accounting principles. Assume the final responsibility for providing the organization and its management with the appropriate financial and operating information necessary.
• Develop, analyze, and interpret statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.

• Strategic Planning – Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and members of the executive management team. Develop Karmak’s financial strategy for review and approval of the executive team, to include long-term financial planning and forecasting, and investment strategies. Execute on the agreed-upon strategy. Establish major economic objectives and policies for the company and prepare reports that outline the company's financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.

• Study long-range economic trends and project their impact on future growth in sales and market share
• Identify and/or analyze opportunities for revenue expansion into new areas

• Reporting and Compliance – Oversee the preparation and communication of financial statements to stakeholders and ensure the timely reporting of key financial data. Ensure legal and regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.

• Leadership – Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team; provide leadership to the VP of Finance and Accounting team.
• Along with the team, work closely with other department groups in a highly collaborative manner, to provide accurate financial planning and forecasting.
• Participate and engage with senior leadership on long term strategic planning, modeling/forecasting, risk assessment, business development, company growth strategies, acquisitions, and related industry activities.
• Provide leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting team; manage the personnel activities of the team to include hiring, training and evaluating employees
• Be a champion for Karmak and the team

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Extensive experience in senior financial managerial roles, with a proven track record of success
• Prior CFO experience in a software or technology environment is preferred
• Experience with an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) is preferred
• Excellent knowledge of data analysis, risk management, and forecasting methods
• 10 years’ experience with a strong working knowledge of accounting and finance areas of responsibility
• Exemplary management experience with a demonstrated ability to identify, communicate and manage issues
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• The ability to perform at a highly strategic level, while still operating as a “hands-on” executive in terms of pulling and preparing reports
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity
