Brundage Mountain Resort is Hiring a Director of Finance Near Call, ID

Job Summary: The Director of Finance serves as a critical member of the Brundage Mountain Resort Leadership Team, overseeing all aspects of financial management and reporting, forecasting and budgeting, capital planning, banking relationships and cashflow management and serves as a key player in communications with the ownership group, regulatory compliance and other operational aspects of the Resort. The Resort is implementing its Master Development Plan and the Director of Finance will play an integral role in the implementation and management of that development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic partner and business advisor to the General Manager and the Resort Leadership Team.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Implement, manage and report on critical KPI’s of the Resort and evaluate and identify trends and opportunities which need to be acted upon on a timely basis.
  • Work closely with departments in the management of departmental financial performance. Responsibilities include timely reporting departmental results, providing details of specific transactions and education of the team to improve financial literacy.
  • Participate in the pricing of the Resort’s products and services assuring proposed pricing is competitive and achieves the Resort’s financial goals.
  • Manage cashflow forecasting ensuring resources are sufficient and available to meet the Resort’s seasonal business cycles, operational expenditures, and capital requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a robust capital expenditure management program to monitor and assure capital expenditures are made in accordance with the capital expenditure plan approved by the Resort.
  • Lead the Resort’s annual planning and budgeting cycles including working with Resort Leadership Team in the development of departmental goals and objectives, identification and evaluation of opportunities for the Resort, and preparation of the final budget.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures which provide for effective control of critical Resort assets, and which improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Resort. Be a key driver of operational efficiencies of the Resort.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including cash collections, monitoring of point-of-sale systems, and timely and accurate processing and payment of vendor invoices.
  • Periodic reporting to the ownership group of the operations of the Resort. Participate in and present at periodic meetings with the owners.
  • Responsible for all tax reporting, including sales, property, and corporate income tax filings.
  • Manage and enhance banking relationships including timely accurate reporting to the bank, forecasting and management of covenant requirements, relationship development, professional communications with the bank, and securing financing for the Resort.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • A strong forward-thinking mentality, not just focused on historical results. Must be able to identify and anticipate challenges and opportunities on the horizon.
  • A strong business acumen in addition to financial skills.
  • Must possess high ethical standards and expect the same from others.
  • Must have flexibility in work schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or equivalent education.
  • At least 10 years experience in financial roles.
  • At least 5 years of managerial experience.
  • Experience in the Ski or Hospitality Industries desirable.
