IMI is seeking a Product Development Engineer to support company goals to conceptualize, design, and test new products as well as drafting the specification for the manufacturing new products.

This position also formulates manufacturing specifications and performs design analyses to ensure all products meet industry standards and guidelines for functionality.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties :

• Overseeing the research and design of new product offerings.
• Sourcing vendors and partners to conceptualize and design new products
• Coordinate testing of new product offerings
• Drafting specifications for the manufacturing of new products.
• Assist in the fabrication of prototypes for testing.
• Coordinate and assist in the fabrication and testing of prototypes throughout the design process to troubleshoot any potential problems.
• Sample different materials, manufacturing processes, design tolerances, and other factors to find the best ones that suit the new product brief.
• Fine-tune designs until they are ready for production.
• Analyze existing products to identify areas for improvement and update current documentation.
• Develop quality control criteria and safety guidelines.
• Technical writing
• Create or update documentation and manuals.

Qualifications :

Education : Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience : Previous experience in product development. Industry-specific product experience preferred.

Skills & Abilities :

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues timely and use sound judgment to improve processes and drive change.
• Knowledge / understanding of transportation services industry.
• Drafting and machining experience.
• Excellent level of personal organization, collaboration skills, and effective oral / written communication skills.
• Experience in Microsoft Outlook and Excel required.
• Must be able to manage time effectively and work independently without direct supervision.
• Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control protocols.
• Able to sit for extended time periods.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds.
