We distribute Sub-Zero, Wolf, Cove, and Best Hoods appliances throughout Northern California, Western Nevada, and Hawaii. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Vice President of Finance (VPF) collaborates effectively with colleagues across Riggs Distributing, Inc., to oversee and guide the financial operations of the company. The VPF ensures strategic management of all financial and accounting activities, adhering strictly to GAAP, along with other regulatory frameworks and the company’s financial principles and ethical standards. This role is crucial in upholding organizational integrity through detailed financial planning, budget development, performance evaluation, and the upkeep of robust internal controls. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the VPF is instrumental in defining measurable metrics that assess financial performance and identify opportunities for business enhancement. This individual will deliver analyses, projections, and reports that enhance operational efficiency and optimize processes across the organization.

The primary focus of the VPF is to drive results that align with the broader objectives and strategic goals of the organization. This role demands initiative, a competitive spirit, and a focus on sustained results amidst fluctuating conditions. The VPF is expected to be innovative and creative, rapidly generating solutions in response to changing organizational needs. Decision-making will be centered on implementing practical and timely responses to emerging challenges.

This is a full-time (40 hour/week) exempt position and has direct reports. This position reports to the President and CEO.

Responsibilities, Expectations, and Key Processes include but are not limited to:

Leads, Manages & Supports

  • Empowers others & makes each team member feel that their work is important.

  • Plans and holds consistent operational & development meetings.

  • Partners with Senior Leaders, Managers and CEO to develop and implement a departmental budget.
  • Authoritative leadership based on generalist expertise, knowledge of systems.

  • Delegation of details as necessary, with follow up on timeliness and quality.
  • Accountability for results.

Finance

  • Manage the Finance Department, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Provide strategic guidance around capital financing options to support company growth needs. Develop and coordinate all relationships with lending/financial institutions. Manage and maintain credit lines and compliance with loan covenants.
  • Manage and lead crucial system wide changes/upgrades (e.g., ERP) to support a scalable system and improve organizational efficiencies.
  • Review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports submitted by the Controller.
  • Manage company insurances.
  • Manage all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property, and other applicable taxes.
  • Financial projections, cash flow management and forecasting.
  • Assist in establishing short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Serve on planning and policymaking committees.
  • Budget and manage owner distributions and related tax matters.
  • Establish and develop relationships with senior management and external partners and stakeholders.

Analytics

Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality for all aspects of the business.

Family Business Office (FBO)

  • Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations, maintaining integrity in all financial reporting.
  • Manage relationships with external partners such as banks, relators, auditors, and financial consultants.
  • Analyze financial data and market trends to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Serve as a key financial advisor to the CEO and Owner, providing insights and recommendations on financial planning and risk management.
  • Oversee financial operations for real estate assets.
  • Analyze and evaluate financial performance of real estate portfolios.
  • Ensure compliance with real estate financial regulations, tax laws, and property-specific legal requirements.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to CEO and Owner to aid in long-term planning and risk management.

Job Requirements:

  • 7 years’ experience in a Vice President/CFO role.
  • Proficient Microsoft Suite/Google Suite.
  • Extremely knowledgeable in financial forecasting, accounting principles, and financial data analysis.
  • Sense of urgency for goal achievement.
  • Quick decision making in response to changing conditions.
  • Must be in San Francisco/Peninsula area.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with and understanding of the Entrepreneurial Operation System (EOS)
  • Experience in executing 1031 exchanges, ensuring compliance with IRS regulations, and optimizing tax deferral strategies for clients.

While performing the functions and duties of this job, employee is regularly required to sit, reach with hands and arms, walk, and talk or hear. This job requires some stooping, kneeling, bending, and use repetitive motions. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Moderate dexterity application of basic skills to use calculator, keyboard, phone, and hand/eye coordination.
