You Thrive Florida Early Learning Programs is Hiring a Finance Officer Near Brooksville, FL

POSITION SUMMARY: Accounting and payroll position requiring an overall knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting, payroll and auditing and further understanding of the inter-relationship between data processing and the general ledger. This position involves a large degree of responsibility and relies on the individual’s ability and experience.
Essential Job Functions
  • Responsible for reconciling accounts payable prior to check run.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile general ledger.
  • Enter all manual check transactions into finance system.
  • Input, analyze, and reconcile reimbursements.
  • Process and pay expenditures and debt service transactions.
  • Responsible for reconciling bank statements and cash/investment accounts.
  • Liaison bank for all banking/investment services.
  • Prepares various financial reports and statements.
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual budgets.
Payroll Processing
  • Responsible for payroll processing as needed by department.
  • Coordinates work of payroll, interprets and explains payroll policies as required.
  • Processes varieties of authorized payroll deductions for employees.
  • Process, verify, and update all changes to employee records and tax forms.

Job StandardsEducation: High School Diploma required. Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field preferred.
Experience: Five (5) years’ experience.
Licenses & Certifications: Must have valid driver license and be insurable under the company’s insurance carrier. Subject to federal, state, and local legal requirements/background checks/clearance for working with vulnerable populations.
Critical Skills, Abilities, & ExpertisePhysical Requirements: These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Talking, standing, sitting, squatting, kneeling, use of fingers, arms, hands, legs, walking, stretching/reaching, handling, grasping, climbing, bending at the waist, turning, balancing, pushing, pulling, use of depth perception, carrying and lifting (up to 65 lbs.), and driving are constant. Good eyesight (correctable) and hearing (correctable) are essential.
Equipment: Computer, facsimile, copy machine, calculator, multi-line phone and other small office and instructional equipment and vehicle.
Skills & Expertise: Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures and the ability to apply such knowledge to accounting transactions. Knowledge of the law, rules, and regulations controlling budgetary fiscal record-keeping and contract procedures of the agency. Knowledge of auditing procedures.
Environmental Job FactorsJob Location: Primary location is the corporate office in Brooksville, FL.
Work Environment: While performing the responsibilities of the position, these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the employee will encounter. Office environment working alone and working with others is constant. Working with office equipment is frequent. Work in heat, cold, dust, or wet conditions are occasional. Extreme noise in confined space is frequent. Occasionally outdoors and operates a vehicle.
