Electrical Project Manager/ Superintendent

Newport Electric Construction Corp. (NEC) is a full service electrical contracting firm located in Bristol, RI. The commercial division of NEC, with a highly integrated group of field personnel, is looking for a hands-on Assistant Project Manager (APM) to assist the department manager with the daily operations. This division provides a wide level of electrical service and construction to general contractors and customers in both southeastern MA and RI.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Work directly with project team to support ongoing commercial electrical projects
• Oversee work in place, and ensure work meets plans, specifications, and expected quality
• Manage the project close-out, including commissioning support, punch list completion, and submission of warranty/closeout documentation
• Coordinate final inspection and signoff’s
• Work directly with project manager and chief estimator to support proposal development
• Act as a single point of contact for project communication
• Establish communication methods and norms with the construction team
• As needed, participate in client communications
• Communicate long and short-term labor needs to the Project Manager
• Monitor adherence to jobsite safety and quality standards and ensure that the project complies with applicable codes and work standards
• Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to direct reports
• Manage vendor/supplier scope reviews, buyout, and issuance of purchase orders

What you need to succeed at NEC:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

• Experience working in the electrical construction trade or electrical supply house preferred.
• Familiar with electrical material and fixtures
• Demonstrated experience in commercial or residential construction industry
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project
• OSHA 10
• Proficiency in project delivery and project schedule management

It’d be great if you also have:

• Electrical Journeyman’s License
• Construction administration experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
