Position Description Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Position

Utilizesan integrative approach to provide direct psychiatric services to clientsincluding psychiatric assessments, evaluations, consultation, and ongoingmedication management. Reports directly to the Clinical Director.

Essential Duties

Thisposition includes, but is not limited to, the following essentialfunctions: 

  • Utilizeintegrative approach to treatment of mental health conditions.
  • Provide client assessment, diagnosis, andtreatment plans in accordance with statutes, regulations and protocolsregulating the profession. 
  • Prescribeand/or directpsychotherapeutic treatments or medication to treat mental, emotional, orbehavioral disorders, including metabolic psychiatry as indicated/preferred.
  • UtilizeEHR to document and electronically prescribe medications
  • Providepsychiatric consultation and educational services to the staff/management of TriviumIntegrative Mental Health, as appropriate and related to the ongoingcare/evaluation of clients.
  • Communicateand collaborate as needed with other treating providers, pharmacies, andoutside agencies regarding the ongoing treatment of clients.
  • Prepare and submit all documentation,including assessments, progress notes, reports and summaries within theestablished time frame and in accordance with internal, licensing andprofessional standards. 
  • Asneeded, order laboratory tests, interpret and explain the test results toclients. 
  • Educate and instruct clients andresponsible parties on preventive care, medical/psychiatric issues and the useof prescribed medical treatments.
  • Communicatewith clients and engage in follow-up as necessary. 
  • Completetrainings and CE hours as identified by Supervisor and in compliance withlicensing requirements.
  • Participatein Clinical Supervision in accordance with organizational policies andlicensing requirements.
  • Complywith all HIPAA regulations in coordination with the HIPAA ComplianceOfficer. 
  • Abide byall Trivium Life Services Corporate Compliance policies and Code of Ethics
  • Performother duties as assigned

  • Proficientin Microsoft Office tools as well as exhibit an ability to learn and utilizeelectronic health record (EHR) system effectively. 

Physical Demands

Whileperforming this job's responsibilities, the employee is required to talk andhear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands andfingers to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. Theemployee is often required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, and maykneel or crouch. Vision abilities required by this job include closevision. 

Working Conditions

Workingconditions are normal for an office environment. The noise level in thework environment is usually quiet to moderate. May be contacted after hours foremergencies. 

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Completion of an approved PsychiatricNurse Practitioner program
  • Minimum two to four years' experience indirect patient care required, to include experience working with adolescentsand/or adults with complex mental health needs
  • Licensed as a Psychiatric NursePractitioner in the State of New Hampshire, or qualified to become licensedupon hire 
  • Active DEA certificatein New Hampshire, or qualified to become certified upon hire
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity,equity, and inclusivity
  • Experience working with clients copingwith complex challenges with their mental health and physical wellness,including but not limited to psychiatric disorders, eating disorders, substanceabuse/dual diagnosis, and complex trauma
