Overview
State of Vermont, Department of Mental Health is committed to ensuring the well-being and mental health of its residents. As a leading state agency dedicated to promoting mental wellness and providing essential services, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Mental Health Services.
As the Director of Mental Health Services, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating mental health programs and services across the state. You will work closely with government agencies, community organizations, healthcare providers, and advocacy groups to develop and implement strategies to improve access to quality mental health care for all residents.
*Starting rate may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.
Environmental Factors
Work is performed in a standard office setting. Evening meetings are occasional. Travel is required for which private means of transportation must be available. Interaction with client advocates and the pressures of budgetary, program, and legislative issues are present.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in psychology AND three (3) years or more of experience providing direct service to mental health clients AND five (5) years or more of administrative responsibility.
OR
Master's degree in psychology, psychiatric nursing, social work, counseling, or public administration AND four (4) years or more of experience providing direct service to mental health clients AND six (6) years or more of administrative responsibility.
