TITLE: K-8 Principal

SCHOOL DESCRIPTION: The Project School (TPS) is a chartered K-8 public school in the heart of Bloomington, Indiana. The Project School was founded by educators with a shared set of essential core beliefs: empowering students and their families; valuing all members of the school community; creating individualized educational experiences; teaching for heart, mind and voice; creating educational equity. Social justice and environmental sustainability are paired with educational excellence in our classrooms and curriculum, family programming, and special events. TPS serves ~320 students. 36% of our school community qualifies for free/reduced lunch and 27% of our students are served through IEP services.

TPS opened our doors in 2009 and since that time, the organization has had one combined role of Superintendent-School Leader. The Board of Directors has taken a significant step toward the long-term sustainability of our organization with the addition of a full-time school principal. This position allows an innovative educational leader to join the new leadership team, establishing the principal role at TPS, and allowing the superintendent to focus solely on that role.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience working in schools (elementary and/or middle) in an educational role (teaching, administrative, counseling)
• Valid Indiana Administration License or comparable out-of-state certification OR commitment to obtaining an administrator license within 3 years of hire

REPORTS TO: The Project School Superintendent

MAJOR ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• understand and actively commit to the vision, mission, and core beliefs of The Project School
• work collaboratively with various stakeholders
• advocate for children, staff, and families
• commit to the growth and development of individuals and the organization
• be a good steward of the school’s resources
• manage day-to-day operations
• develop and supervise school-based team members
• partner with students and families
• serve as a member of the leadership team
• assist the Superintendent

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 220 days

Salary Range: commensurate with experience, comprehensive benefit package
