Digital Online A/S is Hiring a Resident Advocate (Women's Residence Shelter) Near Blanding, UT

Description: Utah Navajo Health System, Inc. is looking for hard-working, dedicated Victim Advocate (Women's Residence Shelter) to work full time in Blanding, Utah. We are a large company with 4 medical and 5 dental clinics spread throughout beautiful San Juan County.
You will be working in an area rich in a variety of cultures and people. We know there is someone out there that will make an excellent addition to our behavioral health team to help increase availability of victim services in our area. Someone who gets along well with others, is thorough and efficient, can follow company procedures, and has amazing customer service.
  • Location: Blanding, Utah
  • Full-Time Position

Critical Tasks
  • Provide trauma informed direct services to survivors of domestic abuse and/or sexual assult and their children including support, advocacy, crisis intervention, safety planning, parenting support, information and referrals.
  • Assist with the daily living needs of shelter residents including ordering supplies, equipment and routine maintenance of the shelter grounds. Must assist with conducting routine fire drills and security checks.
  • Provide shelter orientations to survivors upon entry into shelter. Communicates shelter expectations and communal living guidelines to residents as outlined in the shelter intake.
  • Facilitate support groups and/or house meetings including but not limited to cooperative living, peer support and resident participation in shelter programming.
  • Assist victim with obtaining the proper protective/restraining orders and other court matters, i.e. federal, state, tribal or municipal court systems.
  • Arrange for emergency medical services or law enforcement services as needed.
  • Complete telephone intake with women requesting shelter residency or services. Provide/arrange for shelter for qualified persons and their dependents.
  • Complete shelter intakes (both direct service and paperwork) within 24 hours of shelter entry and other related forms as required.
  • Provide/arrange transportation for clients who are appropriate for shelter.
  • Ensure client confidentiality as outlined in organization’s policy.
  • Work various shifts as applicable, including day, evening and swing including federal, state and tribal holidays.
  • Completes an exit survey with survivors leaving shelter, as well as, required exit paperwork.
  • Models and actively promotes positive, nurturing interactions between adult and children in shelter.
  • Maintains all records accordance with agency policy and regulatory requirements including the Navajo Nation Division of Social Services, Joint Commission/HRSA Accreditation and Violence against Women Act or Indian Child Protection & Family Violence Prevention Act. Document client data in electronic record.
  • Assist with the scheduling of Navajo or other Native American ceremonies/blessings, upon request. In addition to include but not limited to Judeo-Christian or LDS religious worship services.
  • Perform related duties, as required and/or deemed necessary by management.
Requirements
  • Record and submit shelter intakes within 24 hours of shelter entry.
  • Facilitate at least one weekly support group and house meeting.
  • Record exit survey each month and track trends, positive and negative comments and make recommendations for continued improvement.
  • Track and record the demographics of the clients who are being served and report to the program manager of direct and indirect service trends and types of clients that are being served.
  • Routinely rotate work shift schedule in order to work the various shifts, i.e. day, evening and swing including holiday schedules.
  • Schedule a monthly walk about of the shelter grounds and resident area (s) to ensure that all wear and tear and damages are immediately repaired. Must routinely check fire alarms, smoke and carbon dioxide monitors.
  • Annually review all agency material and contacts are kept up to date and current.
  • Annually review job description to ensure essential duties and responsibilities are kept current.
Experience, Training, And Qualifications Needed To Perform The Job
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At Least one year of work experience in the human services field, case management nursing, home health care, customer service , jobs requiring documentation
  • Preference to Bachelors degree in social work or related field
  • Valid and current driver’s license and must meet the organization’s insurability requirements, i.e. no prior DUI convictions, suspension of driving privileges or other traffic violations that led to a suspension or revocation of driver’s license.
  • Must successfully pass a background check submitted through DACS (Direct Access Clearance System. This includes a Fingerprint clearance screening with the State of UT.
As a Tribal Organization the Utah Navajo Health System, Inc. (UNHS) treats patients with high risk and underlying chronic medical conditions. Therefore, UNHS requires its employees to show proof of immunization prior to their employment with UNHS or during their employment.   • MMR (Measles Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella): Documentation of two MMR vaccines (OR) Documentation of MMR titers.
  • Complete Hepatitis B vaccine series (3 doses), documented proof of titers indicating immunity, or a declination that may be signed upon arrival.
  • Proof of up-to-date PPD skin testing, if previously negative (OR) Proof of positive PPD skin test with the most recent chest x-ray and treatment history.
  • Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap).
  • Varicella titers, history of varicella or varicella immunization series.
  • Influenza vaccine for the current year.
  • COVID-19 vaccine
  • Any other vaccinations as requested.
