Looking for a Rockstar!Blackfoot Charter is a growing, mid-sized school of 400 students located in Blackfoot, ID. Outdoor opportunities abound and we are a short drive from two larger cities of Idaho Falls and Pocatello. We are located in a new facility built in 2023, we operate an internal Child Nutrition Program, have our own transportation/bussing department, as well as participating in the East Idaho Charter Sports League. Blackfoot Charter encourages accountability, positive support and kindness when interacting with stakeholders, students, peers and staff. Our students take the Knights Oath (Ownership, Attitude, Teamwork, and Honor) each day and we work to create a positive supportive learning environment for our students and staff through PBIS, along with a strong focus on academics and remediation. We operate on a 4 day school week, with 1 Friday a month set aside for staff development, planning and team building. Our staff is a supportive group of tight-knit educators with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences that make Blackfoot Charter an excellent place to work! We are looking for a strong team member with a record of student academic success or who is able to work closely with their team and build those successes through Professional Learning Communities. Strong communication skills, data analysis skills and knowledge of PBIS are a plus.Special Education TeacherQUALIFICATIONS:1. Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education Blended Certificate or ExceptionalChild Certificate2. Strong background in teaching methods, developmentally appropriate classroomactivities, and effective classroom management3. Strong background in behavior management, curriculum, and writing and implementingIndividualized Education Plans4. Strong background in federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policypertaining to special education5. Ability to lift up to forty pounds and push and pull up to one hundred pounds6. Knowledge of the diverse needs of children with disabilities and appropriate specialeducation classroom practices7. The ability to work with students with emotional, physical, and mental disabilities8. Ability to instruct students one-on-one and small group situations9. Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter and effective teaching methods10. Strong background in curriculum and the Idaho Core Standards11. Maintain confidentiality of staff and studentsPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY TOBuilding Principal and Director of Special ServicesJOB SUMMARYTo provide students with a daily and ongoing instructional program that will provide for them thebest possible academic knowledge and skills. To help pupils to develop skills, attitudes, andknowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued education according to theguidelines outlined in each student’s Individual Education Plan.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInstruction1. Prepare for assigned classes2. Design lessons with an appropriate level of difficulty which provide content in a logicaland sequential manner3. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physicallimitations of the classroom and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or studentgroups involved4. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated5. Identify pupil needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needs6. Analyze and interpret student data to develop and modify instructional activities7. Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans(IEPs)8. Devise written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinkingas well as the reproduction of facts, and use them to evaluate student progress on aregular basis9. Prepare students academically for all district, state, and federal testing10. Display command of the subject matter11. Budget class time effectivelyOther Duties to Students1. Encourage students to strive to meet their highest potential2. Establish and communicate classroom rules, and encourage students to set and maintainstandards of classroom behavior3. Engage children in conversation to encourage language development4. Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-relatedpurposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so underreasonable terms5. Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and theirparents concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students6. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials,and facilities7. Assist, where appropriate, in loading and unloading the special education pupil fromtransportation buses or vansProfessional Contacts and Activities1. Attend and participate in faculty meetings2. Organize a meeting at least once annually with the case manager, parents, and otherprofessional staff to review and revise the IEP and placement of each assigned pupil3. Keep immediate supervisor informed of activities and any issues that may arise4. Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, curriculum,objectives, and methods5. Provide needed and requested information on a timely and effective basisSpecial Education-Specific Duties1. Provide instruction to classified pupils in accordance with each pupil's IndividualizedEducation Program (IEP)2. Work cooperatively with regular education teaching staff to coordinate instructionalactivities and to monitor the progress of each pupil3. Provide support instruction in the regular classroom or the resource center as assigned4. Coordinate and cooperate with other members of the staff in the development ofadaptations, modifications, accommodations, and instructional methods5. Provide home instruction to confined special education pupils as assigned6. Consult with members of the child study team regarding each pupil's educationalprogram, academic program and personal growth7. Plan, coordinate, and lead the implementation of IEPs including modifications andaccommodations8. Participate in the development of the District's plan for special education9. Evaluate student progress on a regular basis, as indicated on IEP’s, and as often asgeneral education students are evaluated and informed of their progress10. Assist in the evaluation of students referred for special education services11. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records in accordance with applicable federaland state law, (including IDEA, ADA, and 504), administrative rules, and Board policy12. Input data in a timely fashionOther1. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules2. Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development byattendance at professional meetings, membership in professional organizations,enrollment in advanced courses, and by reading professional journals and otherpublications3. Adhere to The Code of Ethics of the Idaho Teaching Profession adopted by theProfessional Standards Commission and the State Board of Education4. Seek assistance should emergencies arise5. Represent the school district in a positive manner6. Know and follow school district policy and chain of command7.
