Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum 21 years of age. Experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred. NJ Driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
Job Description:
ATS Instructors plan and supervise activities for the adults with developmental disabilities who attend Adult Training Centers. AT Centers typically serve 30 to 36 service recipients, and are staffed by 5 to 7 Instructors. Plan daily activities for service recipients and provide the supervision and/or assistance as needed for individual and group activities. This may include hand-over-hand assistance. Must be able to creatively adapt a variety of activities to match the needs and capabilities of service recipients. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of teaching techniques. Must remain engaged with service recipients and actively encourage their participation throughout the day. Must provide a variety of activities that allow for individual choice and preferences. Provide supervision and/or physical assistance during eating and leisure times, and during personal care activities such as changing, showering, toileting, etc.
