Lytal, Reiter, Smith, Ivey, & Fronrath a highly rated plaintiff law firm is seeking an experienced Nursing Home & Medical Malpractice Nurse Paralegal for its West Palm Beach office. The position requires an experienced paralegal with at least 5 years’ experience handling a busy case load of nursing home negligence and/or medical malpractice cases as paralegal or case manager.

Qualifications:

• Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience handling a heavy caseload of personal injury cases including nursing home negligence, medical malpractice, wrongful death, and other personal injury cases in Florida.
• Paralegal certificate and/or college degree is preferred.
• Expertise and ability to handle a case from inception through closing.
• Excellent verbal, written, and time management skills.
• Ability to work well within a team is required.

Duties include:

• Assist with screening of new client calls with ability to determine case.
• Attend and conduct initial client meeting with new clients, conduct client intake, and obtain completed retention documents.
• Supervise the opening of new cases in case management system including obtaining all necessary incident reports, accident reports, insurance policies, medical records, medical bills, photos/videos, and other investigative documentation.
• Track and monitor medical bills, payments, liens and keep attorney informed.
• Review insurance policies for coverage, subrogation provisions, liability coverage, excess, UM, and other policies as needed.
• Maintain communication with clients by responding and updating on a regular basis.
• Must be familiar with Pre-Suit guidelines and process in Nursing Home Negligence cases.
• Retain qualified experts and witnesses.
• Prepare and assist client with answering discovery.
• Prepare medical chronologies.
• Assist with preparation of cases for mediation, trial, and expert depositions including maintaining updated medical records and bills for attorney review.
• Communicate with clients, claims adjusters, legal assistants, attorneys' offices, medical provider offices, medical examiners offices, police departments, and agents to request additional information/documentation.
• Request reductions on liens and bills and prepare closing statements, request provider checks, and participate in closing process.
• Attend firm sponsored functions, networking events, and other professional events to increase the firm’s brand and assist with marketing efforts.
